Never meant to hurt me?
found it laughable and turned my face away, not wanting to argue with him.
n the divorce agreement, although it specified splitting assets in half, I had explicitly written that I wanted nothing to speed up the process.
With no property division or children involved, I thought we would quickly receive the divorce papers and then reject each other, permanently severing our
ond.
but it had been nearly thirty days since I sent that agreement, and there had been no movement from his side.
hinking of this, I looked up, about to ask him about it, when there was a knock at the door.
hen Adrian’s steady voice came from outside: “Aurora, are you awake? I came to visit you.”
erris’s expression immediately darkened, a flash of coldness in his eyes. He didn’t move but blocked the door.
opened my mouth, not yet having time to respond, when he coldly replied: “She just woke up. It’s not convenient for visitors.”
here was a moment of silence outside, then Adrian’s tone remained unchanged, still calm but with unquestionable persistence: “I just want to confirm her ondition. It won’t take more than a few minutes. If she doesn’t want to see me, she’ll say so herself.”
‘erris didn’t immediately respond, his fingertips slightly tightening as if restraining something.
.ooking at his back, I suddenly found it somewhat ridiculous.
Let him in.” I spoke, my voice not loud but clear enough.
erris looked back at me, his eyes dark and inscrutable.
He didn’t block anymore, slowly stepping aside like being forced to yield this territory.
The door was gently pushed open, and Adrian walked into the room. His gaze lingered on me for a moment, seeing my pale face but clear eyes, before saying quietly: “You scared me.”
He approached with some concern, gently placing what he brought on the bedside table–a bundle of elegantly wrapped moon–white herbs, plants that could calm the nerves and only grew on northern plateaus.
I heard you collapsed in the administrative district and were sent to the hospital when I arrived.” He looked at me seriously. “Next time, call me. You’re not
lone.”
Ferris stood aside, hearing “you’re not alone,” flames of jealousy burning in his eyes.
But considering this was a hospital room, although the two Alphas‘ auras were confrontational, they didn’t start fighting like last time.
After taking medication, drowsiness quickly overcame me. I could barely chat with him before starting to fall asleep.
Adrian noticed my fatigue: “Rest well. Contact me anytime if you need me.”
I nodded lightly.
When Adrian turned toward the door, he brushed past Ferris, and the two men’s eyes met for an instant.
No words, no actions, but the air suddenly dropped several degrees, like the silence before a thunderstorm.
The door closed.
