In the living room, Bai Ningbing set up a yoga mat and pulled a cushion from the couch, tossing it to Luofeng with a giggle.
"Baby, where’s your mom?" Luofeng casually asked.
"She’s changing. Her coat is uncomfortable to wear at home!" Bai Ningbing replied.
Before Luofeng could respond, Tangya emerged, indeed wearing winter home pajamas.
It was a pity it was winter; winter pajamas were all thick and snug.
What if they were summer pajamas, like silk camisoles?
COUGH COUGH COUGH.
Let’s not talk about it.
Look forward to summer!
Tangya sat to Luofeng’s left, while Bai Ningbing sat on his right.
Bai Ningbing opened a deck of playing cards and said, "Let’s agree on the punishment first. The loser gets one slip of paper for each bomb played in the round. If you’re the Landlord and you lose, this penalty is doubled. So, for example, if you’re the Landlord and you lose a round where four bombs were played, you’ll have to stick eight slips of paper. Also, a player is only accountable for up to four bombs they personally play when calculating penalties."
"Why assume I’ll be the one losing?" Luofeng laughed.
"You’ll find out in a bit. I’m really good at playing Landlords; I can remember all 54 cards," Bai Ningbing declared confidently.
Has this top-scholar beauty applied her learning abilities to Landlords? Tangya silently pondered. As someone who often dealt with mathematics, she couldn’t remember all 54 cards but was adept at recalling the crucial ones.
Teasing her, Luofeng said, "Isn’t that just like being a card counter? Card counters lose plenty!"
If card counters could always win, wouldn’t ’Happy Landlords’ be thriving?
"HUMPH! We’re going to play Landlords the old-fashioned way, drawing one card at a time in turns. That greatly limits the luck factor!" Bai Ningbing said.
Luofeng smiled. In the past, Landlords players did indeed draw cards one by one. It wasn’t like nowadays, where cards are dealt in clumps, making it much easier for good hands to form.
"No problem!" Luofeng nodded.
In the first round, the card determining the Landlord was the Ace of Spades, which Luofeng claimed. He didn’t hesitate to bid for Landlord.
Luofeng’s hand wasn’t very strong. Though he had a pair of Jokers and a 2, along with a straight from 3 to A, he also had several unattached singles: a 4, a 5, a 9, and another 7.
Judging by his cards, the outcome of this round was uncertain. After all, three 2s were still in play in the other hands. If Bai Ningbing and Tangya were skilled players and held good cards, Luofeng would be in hot water.
But it didn’t matter; Luofeng activated his Gambling God Possession Card. This allowed him to completely avoid any risky plays.
Luofeng started by playing a pair of 7s. Bai Ningbing countered with a pair of Ks.
Luofeng chose to pass.
Bai Ningbing played a 3.
Tangya used a Q to block Luofeng, preventing him from getting rid of his small cards.
But Luofeng immediately played a 2, regaining control of the play.
This already signified Luofeng’s victory.
He then played his straight, from 3 to A.
Next, he led with a single 4, and his Xiaowang (Little Joker) took the trick, maintaining his lead.
Then he played a 5, and his Big King took that trick too.
Finally, with only a 9 left in his hand, he played it and won the round.

Is she nervous? he wondered.
