Chapter 35
It was nearly 1 a.m. when Thome and Jasmine returned from celebrating Vesta’s winning the car race. Seeing Thore carrying Jasming back so late, the housekeeper couldn’t help but express concern, “Why so late?”
Thome grunted in response, not elaborating further.
After taking Jasmine to her room, Thorne went to his own, flipping the light switch, only to find Charlene missing. He asked the housekeeper, “She didn’t come back tonight?”
The housekeeper answered, “No, Mrs. Henderson hasn’t returned.”
Thorne was puzzled. Charlene had been unusually absent from home. Such frequent nights out were rare for her. Could it be that ‘something significant had happened with the Ross family?
The following morning, Jasmine woke up with a bright smile, having had a blast playing with Vesta. Remembering Charlene, she excitedly ran toward the master bedroom with her teddy bear and called out, “Mommy! Mommy!”
The door was ajar, but there was no sign of Charlene. Jasmine’s face fell, but then, having changed his clothes, Thome emerged from the walk–in closet.
She quickly asked, “Dad, where’s Mommy?”
Methodically tying his tie, Thorne replied indifferently, “She’s not home.”
“Not home? Why?”
“If you want to know, ask her yourself.”
“Okay then.”
Jasmine picked up her phone and dialed Charlene. Just back from her morning jog, Charlene answered the call before Jasmine excitedly blurted out, “Mommy, where are you?”
Hesitant to reveal her whereabouts, Charlene asked, “What’s up, Minnie? Do you need something?”
No one except for Connie knew where she was staying. Charlene was relishing her independent life and wasn’t eager to be disturbed, so she hadn’t planned on disclosing her location to Jasmine yet.
Using the speakerphone and lying on the bed, Jasmine pleaded with Charlene, “I miss you, Mommy. Can you take me to school today?” Charlene responded, “I’m quite far from you now, darling. I won’t make it back in time to take you to school today. Maybe next time.” “Okay,” Jasmine said, a bit disheartened, and naturally requested, “Then you have to take me to school tomorrow morning, okay?” Charlene hesitated, not immediately responding. She wasn’t keen on going back there.
Noticing Charlene’s hesitation, Thorne was surprised. He had always known Charlene to prioritize their daughter, expecting her to agree to such a request.
After a pause, Charlene said, “How about letting your dad take you?”
But Jasmine missed her mother a lot. Not getting her wish, she felt wronged, and her eyes welled up. “No, I want you to take me. You haven’t taken me to school for a long time, except for yesterday-”
Seeing her insistence, Charlene finally agreed, “Fine, I promise.”
Her agreement wasn’t just out of sympathy for Jasmine. She felt responsible for looking after her since she had brought Jasmine into this world.
Jasmine’s face lit up with a smile once more.
Putting on his watch and seeing Jasmine still eager to chat, Thorne reminded her, “You’ll be late for breakfast if you don’t hurry down Jasmine gasped. “Ah! I haven’t brushed my teeth or washed my face yet. Mommy, I’ve got to go and do that first. Talk later!”
Without waiting for Charlene’s response, Jasmine hurriedly ended the call.
After hanging up and having breakfast, Charlene headed to her job at the Henderson Group.

Can't wait to read where Charlene will start another relationship... God for is she gets back with Thorne... She needs to be with York or Gaylord (to annoy vesta) or granger (to annoy Thorne)...
I know its ur story and u obviously have ur own plot line and all and have every right to build the story as u like but what writer provide isnt just entertainment, but they shape the narrative of young minds. So I would say that romanticing cheating is, or rather THORNE'S behaviour, wrong for all the reasons..give york a chance ..that will be way more satisfying...again all of this is just my point of view but if charlene and thorne get back together, its not the story im looking for...
Hey...please dont ever make Charlene and thorne get back together no matter what...he simply doesn't deserve it....no matter the reason or plot twist behind the way he treated his legally wedded wife....whether he actually slept with vesta or not....just his emotional cheating...not repecting his spouse....not caring enough to actually get to know the person his wife was....and actually distancing his child from her mother and encouraging her to bond with the mistress are all the biggest RED FLAGS... when a person enters a contract....he must uphold it no questions asked...its not like if ur partner isnt good enough, ur allowed to cheat..allowed to let a 3rd person in-between....if ur not satisfied with ur partner then u can get a divorce...whats the point of all the wealth, power and brilliance of mind when the ML cant even get his head around this simple fact...So, its fine it he regrets, but charlene shouldn't be with him in any case.....
Enough already. This novel is dragging slowly. Updated with 2 chapters only. REALLY!!! Whoever the author or authors of this novel why is there a delay in penning more chapters? Here’s my question. In reading the comments from others does their opinions matters and/or make a difference? Are comments being monitored? Or is it only a tool allowing readers to blow off steam?...
Long wait to just get an upload of a couple of chapters. Very little progress in the story if any at all! For heaven's sake the story is 453 chapters so far with nothing or little change from where the story began! Show commitment to us your readers and followers please!...
Hi..its my 1st ever time commenting on any story. But seriously....i dont mean to come as rude but are u seriously thinking about the stroy or losing ur grip on the plot and characters...not updating...no story development...no commitment towards ur readers...u just uploaded 2 chapters after god know how long and still nothing to give to the story..if u dont want to write or simply cant then please dont...
The updates are so slow that I forgot the story for some time and just remembered it and read 20 chapters. The chapters are short and the story development is like a snail. 451 chapters and Charlene still couldn't break her image in other's eyes or dealth some serious damage to Vesta and her trash father....
It would be better to say right away that there are 10 chap/month...
Just give us updates already...
