I send you money every month, as agreed, she said quietly. But keep your mouth shut. Don’t let Victor find out about us.

Luther shrugged nonchalantly. Don’t worry. As long as you pay me, I won’t say a word.”

Eliza gave him a brief nod and turned toward the store. Victor, hidden behind the tree, had seen everything.

It felt as though the blood in his veins had turned to ice.

How could this happen?he thought, his mind racing. She’s been lying to me all along!

Leon, noticing his father’s pale expression, became concerned. Dad, what’s wrong?

Victor knelt down and forced a smile, one more painful than tears. It’s nothing. Let’s just go home.He picked Leon up, holding him close, and quickly walked away.

Eliza walked into Powell Villa with Oliver, only to find Victor sitting in the living room, his face clouded with anger. Vic, why aren’t you at work today?she asked.

A sudden wave of unease swept through Eliza. Does he know?she wondered. No, he should have been at the office. Why is he here?

Victor didn’t respond. He simply stared at her, his gaze cold and piercing, sending a chill down her spine.

What’s wrong?Eliza asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Victor pulled an envelope from his pocket and tossed it onto the coffee table. Take a look!

Eliza’s hands trembled as she opened the envelope. Inside, she found a stack of photos. Each one captured a moment of her meeting Luther at the park, with Oliver in tow. Every image showed her interacting with Luther in ways that made her blood run cold.

Eliza’s face drained of color, and she sank into the sofa, her lips quivering as she struggled to speak.

Victor observed her reaction, once again feeling the disgust that had slowly replaced the admiration he once had for her.

Care to explain what this is about? His voice was steady, but his eyes burned with frustration.

IEliza opened her mouth but found herself speechless.

Say something!Victor slammed his hand down on the table, his anger rising.

The sudden force startled Eliza, and tears sprang to her eyes. Her body shook uncontrollably, and her legs gave way. She collapsed before him, too weak to hold herself up.

Oliver, seeing his mother fall, stood frozen with fear. His small face turned pale, and he instinctively crept closer, trembling and too scared to make a sound.

Eliza clung to Victor’s pants, her sobs wracking her body. Vic, I’m so sorry. I made a mistake. II had no choice.

No choice?Victor’s voice faltered for a moment, the words sinking in. What if I’ve misunderstood her?he thought.

Tell me what happened,he asked, trying to remain calm.

Vic, I swear, I had no choice! It was Luthor. He forced me!Eliza’s voice broke, her words tumbling out in a frantic rush He threatened me, I was terrified.
