Chapter 179
Chapter 179
They’d become bitter enemies now, and knowing Victor was miserable actually gave her a little satisfaction.
Their marriage had never been unhappy because of anything she’d done. It was because Victor was selfish and always obsessing over the woman he couldn’t have. Now that he’d ended up like this, he had no one to blame but himself.
“Serena, what are you thinking about? You look so focused,” Kristy said, walking over and sitting across from her. She slid an invitation across the table

with wedding preparations, but today, she’d finally found time to have lunch with
Serena snapped back to reality with a slight smile. “Nothing important.
But now that you’re getting married soon, you definitely look better than usual”
At the mention of her wedding, Kristy’s expression changed and she looked annoyed. “You have no idea what happened. Eliza’s getting married too, right? She went out of her way to find out when my wedding was, and then she scheduled hers for the exact same day.”
Having someone she hated copying her schedule on what should have been one of the happiest days of her life made Kristy feel absolutely disgusted.
It was even worse knowing that Eliza now acted like she was the lady of the Powell family and had to have the best of everything.
This was making Kristy sick.
Serena had no idea this was happening and frowned when she heard about it. Before she could say anything, her phone on the table suddenly lit up with an incoming call from Victor.
Serena frowned, feeling annoyed. This had to be the hundredth time Victor had called her at night. At first, she thought it might be some kind of emergency, but she’d figured out that every single time he was completely wasted. He was basically just calling to throw drunk tantrums.
Serena was about to hang up when Kristy snatched the phone from her hands with a cold smile. “Don’t worry. I’m here today. Answer it.”
“That bastard Victor is still trying to mess with your life. I’m going to give him a piece of my mind today,” Kristy said as she picked up the call, ready to let him have it. But instead of Victor’s voice, she heard something completely different.
“This is the police station. Are you related to Victor?” the officer said seriously.
Kristy raised an eyebrow and handed the phone back to Serena.
“Sorry, I’m not,” Serena said when she heard the officer’s voice. The cop on the other end sounded frustrated and let out a sigh.
“Ma’am, Victor got into a fight at a bar tonight. He’s passed out drunk, and you’re his only emergency contact.” The police couldn’t unlock Victor’s phone without permission, so they had no other choice but to call her.
Serena and Kristy exchanged glances. In the end, Serena had to agree to go to the station, pick up Victor, and drop him off at Powell Villa.
