Chapter 184
Chapter 184
Even though Serena wasn’t seriously hurt, if she really wanted to press charges, Luther would definitely be in trouble. He was just now realizing her serious this situation was, and his face went pale.
‘I definitely don’t want to go to prison, Luther thought. If he hadn’t been drunk last night, he never would have been so reckless and affacked Sertia. A look of regret crossed his face.
“I might be willing to drop the charges against you,” Serena said gently, noticing the change in Luther’s expression. She could tell exactly what he was thinking.
Hearing that there might be room for negotiation, Luther rubbed his hands together nervously and put on a pleading expression. “Ms. Gray, we go way back, don’t we? And you can’t really blame me for what happened. It’s not entirely my fault that I went after you.”
Serena raised an eyebrow and quietly turned on her phone’s voice recorder. “I want to know about that too. Last night you told me I killed your child. What exactly happened?”
Luther’s face looked uncomfortable, but with all these cops around, he just wanted to stay out of jail. He took a deep breath and started blaming someone else.
“It’s all Eliza’s fault.” Luther shrugged. “The whole thing was her idea. She wanted to use our kid to marry into money. You know, climb the social ladder by having a baby with a rich guy.
“I was just drunk and got a little carried away last night, but this was all Eliza’s plan. It had nothing to do with me.”
The suspicions that had been eating at Serena last night were finally confirmed. She couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh. “So Victor was played from the very beginning.”
Luther snorted like he was still annoyed about it. “That idiot Victor was basically raising my kid for me. If the Powell family wasn’t loaded, you think I’d let Eliza take my son to shack up with some other guy?”
After recording that confession, Serena quietly turned off her phone’s recorder. Everything was exactly as she’d suspected.
“Alright.” Serena slowly stood up and looked apologetically at the officers nearby. “Sorry for taking up your time. As for Luther’s punishment, just follow standard procedure.”
A few days in jail would serve as a good lesson for him. Serena might have a good nature, but that didn’t mean people could walk all over her.
Luther should feel lucky that she didn’t actually get hurt and managed to escape in time. Otherwise, Serena definitely wouldn’t have gone easy on him.
“Alright, Ms. Gray, you just need to give a quick statement and then you can go,” the officer said.
That was when Luther realized he’d been played. He started yelling Serena’s name from behind, but the cops got annoyed and dragged him back. “This is a police station. Keep it down!”
If Serena really wanted to go after Luther for what he’d done, she wouldn’t have just asked them to follow standard procedure. She could have taken him to court and gotten a hefty settlement out of it.
