“Enough,” Lucia snapped at her daughter, raising her voice. Realizing she had oumreacted, she quickly forced a stiff smile at Mr. Brannon
“She doesn’t know any better, Mr. Brannon. Please don’t take it to heart. It’s all just a misunderstanding,” Lucia tried to explain.:
Cade’s face dekened further at the sight of his wife and daughter in this state, beads of sweat continuing to form on his forehead. “Enough,” he barked. “You two, apologize to Mr. Brannon this instant”
The little girl was startled by her father’s sudden outburst. Her previously haughty demeanor vanished instantly–her lips trembled in a pout, øyes brimming with unshed tears.
Cade snapped, his voice growing even harsher. “Apologie, now.”
Though resentment churned within her, Lucia finally lowered her head under her husband’s glare. Through clenched teeth, she muttered to Serena and
Alyssa, “Sorry, I was wrong.”
The little girl, sniffling through her tears, followed suit and choked out, “I–I’m sorry.”
Keith’s icy gaze swept over the family of three. “You think a mere apology can settle this?”
Cade stammered nervously, “Mr. Brannen, w–we’re at fault here. P–Please be lenient and don’t stoop to our level”
All of Lucia’s carer defiance had vanished. Head bowed, her body trembling slightly, she clutched her daughter’s hand in a

Keith cast a downward glance at Lucia and her daughter, both trembling with their heads lowered. He usually couldn’t be bothered with such people. But when his gaze shifted to Alyssa in Serena’s arms, he could no longer suppress the fury rising in his chest.

With gentle hands, he carefully lifted the hem of Alyssa’s dress, revealing her injured knee. The skin around the wound had turned pale, a clear sign of blood loss.
His gaze fell on Serena’s handkerchief, already completely soaked through with blood.
“Let’s get you to the hospital,” he said. Clutching Alyssa tightly in his arms, Keith raced to the hospital.
