When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 2116

Looking out the window, Cecilia asked Magnus, "Magnus, what would you do if you didn't have me as a sister, or if I were incapable of paying off your debts for you?"

Magnus replied nonchalantly, "There aren't so many 'what ifs.' Cecilia, just help me this one last time, and I promise there won't be a next time."

After speaking, he waited quietly for a response.

For a long time, no sound came from the other end of the line

Just when Magnus thought his hopes were dashed, Cecilia finally spoke.

She sighed and then said, "This isn't the first time you've said it's the last time. I really don't know if I should believe you."

"Cecilia, you must believe me," Magnus quickly urged.

"How about thisβ€”let's draw up an agreement," Cecilia suggested.

Although she felt that an agreement might not guarantee that Magnus would actually adhere to it, having one was better than nothing.

"What kind of agreement?" Magnus was confused. "We're siblings. Do we still need an agreement?"

"If you don't want to, then forget it," Cecilia said, ready to hang up.

Magnus quickly said, "Wait, I'll do it."

Only then did Cecilia continue, "I'll give you two options. One is that you write me a promissory note and slowly pay me back the money. The other is that I pay off your debts, and from now on, we have no relationship whatsoever, and I owe you nothing."

As a matter of fact, she never owed Magnus anything; what she owed was to his father.

Magnus answered immediately, "Of course, I'll choose the first one. I'd never cut ties with you. You're my older sister, and you're the only family I have left."

It was hard to tell if he was being sincere or faking it.

Cecilia's tone was calm as she said, "I'm adding a clause to the first option: don't ask me for help again until you've paid back all the money."

Magnus hesitated slightly but soon agreed. "Fine, I accept the terms."

"I'll send you the agreement in a moment. If there are no issues, sign it," Cecilia said and hung up the phone.

She hoped Magnus could keep his promise and become a true man.
