He helped lift the unconscious Melanie onto Perseus‘ back. “Perseus, what do we do now?”

“First, get Mom to the hospital. Then check how much Mikita has taken from the White family over the years! She needs to confess everything! And find out how much Selina really knows. Oh, and Hiroto Hodge–he caused the company to spiral into that vicious cycle. He needs to be investigated thoroughly, too!”

“Hiroto? Do you think he’s working with her?” Christopher’s fists clenched as his face darkened.

Perseus nodded. “When Hiroto sabotaged two projects, I wanted him punished, but Dad protected him. Their shared surname–Hodge–is no coincidence.”

If Hiroto really was connected to Mikita, then everything that had happened to the White family was no accident. It had all been engineered by Selina and her birth mother. Enemies couldn’t have struck harder.

“Strange… where’s Selina?”

Christopher frowned. He wanted to confront her immediately, to ask where they had wronged her all these years.

He immediately took out his phone and tried calling Selina, but it went straight to voicemail.

Meanwhile, as Jessica stepped out of the restaurant, she couldn’t help but remark,

“That was truly satisfying. What a pity the little saint wasn’t in the audience.”

Anneliese had orchestrated this entire setup, naturally aiming to gather everyone in one place -especially Selina, the key player.

Unfortunately, an unexpected obstacle had arisen.

The messages Anneliese had sent Selina went unanswered.

Several calls had gone through, but Selina’s phone was switched off. She was completely unreachable.

Jessica’s expression flickered for a moment, slightly uneasy. She instinctively glanced at Zane.

She hadn’t expected that when Zane encountered her here last time, he would ask the staff to keep an eye on things.

The thoughtfulness and care caught her off guard.

But Zane was a lawyer; perhaps it was professional instinct that made him so attentive, so meticulous.

Jessica was fully aware–they belonged to entirely different worlds. Even a few intimate encounters didn’t mean anything substantial.

Sensing Jessica’s gaze, Zane instinctively turned his head, but she had already looked away.

Walking behind Jonathan, Zane only saw the back of the woman’s head, her chic short hair swaying lightly in the wind.

Outside the restaurant, they parted ways. Anneliese got into the car with Jonathan, remaining unusually quiet.

Jonathan noticed her mood was low as she leaned against the car window, staring outside. He reached over and drew her into his embrace, a faint lift in his brow.

“Mrs. Fullbuster, causing chaos and still not happy?”

Anneliese flushed slightly.

“I wouldn’t call it chaos… I just spent so long waiting for this moment, wanting to see the White family–those selfish, self–centered people–betrayed and abandoned by the ones closest to them, to watch them suffer, regret, and be pierced by their own mistakes. But now that it’s happening, it doesn’t feel as satisfying as I imagined.”

Seeing her lower her gaze, Jonathan bent down and pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head. “That’s because they’re not worth the emotions you waste on them. Consider it a weight lifted from your heart.”

As he spoke, he gently lifted her chin, and Anneliese looked at him in quiet astonishment.
