Chapter 410 Hidden Hostility
:
Jonathan spoke in a low voice as he walked past Gianna and headed toward Anneliese.
Anneliese finally understood what he meant.
Gianna’s cousin was India. She should have realized that earlier.

The surname Malone wasn’t common. Still, Anneliese had only seen India twice. India was tall and striking with sharp, bold features, while Gianna was petite and delicate. The two didn’t look much alike, so Anneliese hadn’t made the connection.
Now it seemed that Gianna’s hidden hostility was partly because she was standing up for India.
As Anneliese thought about it, she came back to herself and saw Jonathan walking straight toward her. At the same time, he was saying things like “wife” and “hard to explain.”
Her expression tightened, and she quickly ducked behind Alexander. She even gave Jonathan a small wave, signaling him to stop.
She looked like she wanted to avoid him completely, pretending not to know him.
The coldness on Jonathan’s face deepened, but in the end, he didn’t take another step.
Alexander, noticing the tension that India’s words had caused, stepped forward and spoke.
“Gianna, since it was a misunderstanding, you should apologize properly to Mr. Fullbuster.”
Gianna stood frozen at the doorway. The shock on her face slowly turned into helplessness and restrained anger after hearing both Jonathan and Alexander.
In the end, she lowered her head, walked up to Jonathan, and spoke softly.
“Jonathan, I’ve been staying in Westrough all this time. I only heard that you got married, so I thought it was you and India. After all, our grandfathers discussed a marriage between our families long ago, and you and India…”
Before she could finish, Jonathan cut her off.
He pulled out a chair and sat down. The scrape of the chair was sharp, and his cold voice followed.
“Gianna, India and I are friends and coworkers.”

His tone was heavier than before. Earlier, he had only been unhappy. Now, he was clearly
angry.
Gianna bit her lip, and her eyes turned red. She let out a short snort before speaking.
“Sorry. I apologize.”
After that, she sniffled and turned to Alexander. “I don’t feel well. I’m going to the restroom.”
With that, she ran out.
Clement saw her rush out crying and felt a little worried. Since she was a girl and had gone to the restroom to calm down, he couldn’t follow. He quietly turned to Anneliese.
“Anne, can you go check on her?”
Anneliese nodded. “Okay, I’ll go.”
She stood up and immediately felt Jonathan’s gaze on her. She didn’t look back and quickly walked out of the room.
Heading toward the restroom, she soon found Gianna at the sink.
Gianna was washing her hands. Her face no longer showed the shame and anger from before. Anneliese walked closer, stood behind her, and met her eyes in the mirror. She spoke first.
“You know who I am, don’t you?”
Her words sounded like a question, but her tone made it clear she was sure of it.
It was obvious that Gianna’s little scene had been aimed at her. Anneliese didn’t believe for a
second that it was some kind of mistake.
The innocence and warmth on Gianna’s face were gone.
She lifted her chin slightly and raised a brow at Anneliese through the mirror.
“Oh? Who are you? You’ve got me confused, Anneliese.”
Anneliese stepped forward, stood at another sink, and slowly washed her hands under the water. Then she spoke calmly.
“If
you
don’t know, then forget it.”
She pulled a paper towel, dried her hands, and turned to leave.

Behind her, Gianna hadn’t expected her to stay so calm. She turned and stared at Anneliese’s back before finally speaking.
“My cousin and Jonathan grew up together. They went to the same schools from elementary through high school. Later, my cousin worked hard to get into the aviation academy just to be on his level. She went through a lot to become a pilot who could match him. She even followed him abroad to join the branch office of AeroAir in Agylac. For the past two years, she’s been helping him build his career there.
“The two of them are known in Halden as the perfect couple. For years, the only close woman by his side has been my cousin. Our families are lifelong friends. My grandfather and his grandfather agreed long ago that he and my cousin would marry. She’s the only future daughter–in–law his grandfather has ever acknowledged.
“They are truly well–matched. No matter where you came from, you’re just the third getting between them.”
