When Love Turns Dangerous novel Chapter 138

"Tara, say hello to Mr. Wilhelm," Oscar said. He then turned to Fraser Wilhelm, "Fraser, I haven't seen you post much on Facebook lately."

Fraser shook hands with Oscar and replied, "I haven't really been in the mood recently."

Fraser looked at Tara and felt a pang of bitterness. He and Oscar were the same age, and their children were about the same age too. But look at Soren—not only had he found himself a girlfriend, but she was also drop-dead gorgeous.

"Hello, Mr. Wilhelm," Tara greeted him.

Fraser laughed heartily. "Hello, Tara. Soren, your girlfriend is truly stunning. I wish you both the best."

Soren put his arm around Tara's waist. "I agree she's stunning. You'll be the first to know when we get engaged."

This made his parents smile, while Fraser grew even more bitter. Even while laughing, he didn't forget to shoot a glare at the silent Shawn.

Tara struggled to keep her nerves in check, especially when she felt Shawn's gaze fall on her. That only made her even more uneasy.

He might have lost all memories related to her, but his personality hadn't changed. He was still just as sinister and unpredictable as ever.

Thankfully, Soren quickly led her away from him, and she was finally able to breathe easier.

Fraser sighed inwardly as he watched the happy couple leave. He then looked at his cold, aloof son and felt a headache coming on.

Shawn was simply too smart for his own good. Ever since he was a kid, aside from Jonah, Soren, and Lance, he'd never cared for making friends. Even when others went out of their way to befriend him, he remained distant and indifferent, much less having anything to do with the opposite sex.

Now Soren had a girlfriend, yet Shawn didn't even have someone he was seeing. At least Lance had a decent-looking secretary by his side, but Shawn? The only person next to him at this banquet was Fraser.

The more Fraser thought about it, the more frustrated he got. He muttered quietly to Shawn, "Look at Soren. His girlfriend's so pretty and gentle. Look how happy his parents are."

His expression hardened, clearly signaling just how displeased he was so that Shawn would get a move on.

Shawn looked away from Tara and turned to Fraser. He then placed his wine glass on the tray that a waiter offered.

"You'd be satisfied with a daughter-in-law like her?" he asked.

Fraser nodded matter-of-factly. Who wouldn't like a beautiful woman like Tara to be their daughter-in-law?

Even if she came from an ordinary background, as long as her family was decent and respectable, no wealthy family would care. They had more than enough money, so they weren't looking to marry for hers.

Shawn lowered his gaze and tugged lightly at his sleeve, eyes drifting toward Tara, who was hidden behind Soren.

"Alright, I got it," he replied.

Fraser was delighted at his son's answer. If he was willing to consider it, that meant him bringing a girlfriend home for dinner might not be far off.

Tara followed Soren and his parents as they made their way around the banquet. Soon, Kenneth Farrell came to the center of the room with his cane.

Soren looked at Tara, who looked positively gorgeous under the soft lightning. Unable to help himself, he kissed her on the cheek.

His parents couldn't stop smiling, as it was the first time they had ever seen their son like this.

Soren leaned in and whispered, "That's my grandpa."

Tara greeted Kenneth. "Good evening, Mr. Farrell Senior. I'm Tara."

Kenneth looked at the beautiful Tara, and when he met her clear, bright eyes, he could immediately tell she was a good person.

"Tara, here's a little something to welcome you to the family." He handed her an envelope full of cash.

Tara knew she couldn't refuse, so she accepted it. "Thank you, Mr. Wilhelm Senior."
