Their wedding was set for the first day of the next month–a marriage arranged by her late parents. Since childhood, she and Waldo had been the perfect match–admired, envied, inseparable.

She was eagerly looking forward to the ceremony, sewing her wedding gown by hand.

But lately, Waldo seemed unusually busy. At first, he would returh every evening to share meals with her, but soon entire days would pass without her seeing him at all.

The servants said he was still focused on eliminating the remnants of Pat’s faction, riding across the desert with Priscilla, pressuring her to reveal the hiding places of her family’s allies.

It was said that Priscilla had a fierce temper, and at first, she was willing to die rather than betray them.
