Chapter 185
Waldo waved his hand.
Hughie finally dragged Priscilla away.
Not long after, Hughie returned to find that the door to Waldo’s study was still open. Waldo was
seated behind the desk, deep in thought, net workin
Hughie cautiously stepped in, picked up the torn pieces of the letter from the floor, carefully pieced them together, and placed them back on the desk.
Hughie said, “My lord… although this subordinate does think Ms. Yates is indeed a fine woman, what Ms. Mcbride said isn’t entirely without reason
He didn’t like Priscilla and much preferred Jessica, but what mattered most to him was always his prince.
He added, “My lord, if Ms. Yates still has deep feelings for you, then perhaps… for the sake of her loyalty and devotion, you should take the initiative to reconcile with her.”
That would be the perfect outcome, and what Hughie hoped for most.
Through this recent battle, Hughie had seen it clearly. Without Jessica by his side, Waldo’s command ability had significantly declined.
Jessica was vital to Waldo.
“The Yates family forming its hunting team for the Autumn Hunt is a message to the world. There’s nothing left between Ms. Yates and you.” Hughie continued, “If so, what Ms. Mcbride said will become the truth. Ms. Yates didn’t save her husband. She did it to make a name for herself”
“And you, my lord…” Hughie didn’t want to wound Waldo, but the situation had reached a critical point. “My lord, you’re the one who lost the battle and had to be rescued by the Yates sibling.”
Suddenly, Waldo stood up.
Hughie was startled. “My lord…”
Waldo’s face was grim. He said nothing and strode out.
He was heading to Yates House.
It was close to dusk when Jessica returned, travel–worn and dusty! It was unclear where she had been.
But Waldo hadn’t come to see her. He had gone to see Algernon.
When Jessica heard the news, her heart tensed, and she immediately rushed to Delight Hall.
By the time she arrived, Waldo and Algernon were already drinking tea together.
Algernon looked a bit better today, though his body was still very frail.
“Grandpa.” Jessica quickly walked to his side, then looked at Waldo. Despite her inner displeasure, she greeted him with a composed tone. “Your Highness.”
“Why so distant, Jessica? Is it because General Algernon is present?” Waldo smiled faintly.
Jessica didn’t know what he was trying to get at, and simply replied coldly, “You are of noble rank, Your Highness. Prope
orum must be observed.”
Algernon chuckled. “You two are soon to be married. Jessica, there’s no need to be so formal. Come, sit.”
Jessica frowned slightly.

Chapter 185
Algernon had been recuperating in Delight Hall for some time now, seriously ill. Jessica had used this as an excuse to turn away all vest
But she couldn’t refuse Waldo, who outranked her by lar.
Algernon was unaware that she and Waldo had broken off their engagement. He didn’t have long to live, and Jessica had no intention of troubling hire with such matters.
It seemed Waldo hadn’t told him anything either.
As expected, Waldo didn’t mention the broken engagement at all. He behaved as if he were simply here to visit Algernon, chatting about events on the battlefield and seeking guidance on personal conduct.
Algernon answered every question earnestly, treating Waldo like his own junior.
As for Garbisch’s situation, Waldo didn’t bring that up either.
After they left Delight Hall, Jessica couldn’t help but turn back and glare at Waldo coldly. “Your Highness, what exactly are you trying to do?”
