Chapter 187
Jessica retorted, “Your Highness, you really have a talent for twisting the truth. I’m abandoning you? Don’t you feel even a twings of quite saying this ad course, that is assuming you still possess anything resembling a conscience.”
Jessica was fuming. She almost wanted to laugh at his words.
The trace of mockery at her brows and in her smile felt like fire burning in Waldo’s chest. It stung, and it enraged him.
He wanted to speak, but didn’t even know what to say.
In the end, he suddenly realized he was making a fool of himself.
His agitation caused the wound on his abdomen to flare up in sharp pain.
Waldo’s expression changed. His face turned pale in an instant.
Jessica gave a quiet sigh. “Your Highness, your injury hasn’t healed yet. You should be resting in your manor. Why force yourself to walk around? If the wound tears again, it won’t be easy to heal.”
Waldo was strong indeed. Despite such a serious injury, he was already up and about after only a few days.
That was the result of years on the battlefield, forging a resilient body. An ordinary man would’ve been bedridden for ten days to half a month.
But this simple reminder from Jessica only made Waldo angrier. “If you’ve chosen Leon, then stop putting on a pitiful act in front of me! I won’t be fooled by your false compassion ever again!”
Jessica replied, “Your Highness, I truly wasn’t showing concern for you. So don’t think there’s any false compassion involved.”
Jessica withdrew her gaze and said coolly, “I’m just worried you’ll faint inside our manor. If that happens, we’ll be blamed for it.”
“You…” Waldo choked out.
“Your Highness, if there’s nothing else, please go back and rest early.” Jessica lowered her head and took two steps back.
Waldo’s jaw clenched with barely contained rage.
The considerate, gentle Jessica of the past was long gone.
Waldo seethed inwardly. ‘Priscilla was right all along. She’s been pretending this whole time. She’s pure evil!‘
“Leon could never truly love you. You’ll regret this!” Throwing down those words, Waldo turned and left, looking almost like he was fleeing.
Never in his life had he been so humiliated.
But as soon as Waldo stepped out of the Yates House, a heavy weight began to settle over his heart.
Once the heat of the moment cooled, some truths gradually rose to the surface and became clearer.
Waldo realized he had fallen into a bottomless pit. And at this point, he was only just beginning to fall.
His feet found no support. The pit only got deeper and deeper…
When Waldo returned to Waldo House, Adele arrived.
She exclaimed, “Jessica is going to attend the Autumn Hunt under the Yates family’s banner!” This time, Andrew’s internal secrecy was airtight. Everyone outside knew about it, but the harem only found out today.
Chapter 187
She asked, “Waldo, didn’t you reconcile with her? Why is she doing this?“”
For the Yates family to form their own team was a public declaration that they had no connection to Waldo Flouse.
The rumor of the hundreds–of–mile rescue had become a complete joke.
Adele fumed. “Waldo, do you realize that you’ve become a stepping stone for Jessica and Garbisch? How dare they treat you like this! This is outrageous!”
“I won’t let her get away with it!” Waldo clenched his fists tightly. He was so furious that he couldn’t catch his breath and started coughing violently
Adele was frightened. “Someone! Call the doctor!”
“No need!” Waldo gritted his teeth, gasping, “I’m fine. But the Autumn Hunt…”
Adele comforted, “Waldo, don’t worry. You are still the most important person in your father’s heart.”
Adele held Waldo’s hand. Despite her hatred for Jessica, she was actually in quite a good mood because of what she had to share. “His Majesty has decided to postpone the Autumn Hunt for ten more days. Waldo, remember. You are still the one your father treasures most. You shouldn’t disappoint your father again.”
