Chapter 238
Jessica was indeed injured, but only slightly.
The moment she swung down from her horse and, in one swift motion, hoisted the black bear onto her shoulders, all the men around her stood dumbfounded.
She looked so delicate and fragile, yet moved with the agility and grace of a dragon.
“Your Majesty, the Yates family has successfully hunted down the prey you designated!” Jessica knelt on one knee.
Her kneeling posture showed no trace of feminine delicacy, every movement carried the commanding presence of a seasoned general.
Astonishment filled the King’s eyes.
Andrew felt a tumult of emotions, surprise, frustration, and reluctant admiration.
After a momentary daze, the Queen immediately laughed and said, “Excellent! Truly excellent! Jessica is indeed a heroine! The Yates family breeds ‘no weaklings, as expected of Celine Yates‘ daughter, a true female champion!”
After a brief pause, the King finally smiled. “Good. Andrew, go check if that’s the black bear you arranged.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.” Andrew promptly descended and approached the black bear, though he visibly hesitated to get too close.
Garbisch and Leanna rushed over and flipped the black bear over in one swift motion.
“Your Majesty, this is indeed the very black bear!” Andrew called out at once.
The King nodded in acknowledgment.
Andrew promptly declared in a resounding voice, “Victory in today’s grand hunt goes to the Yates family!”
To everyone’s surprise, only the Yates family and the Queen applauded, the rest of the crowd remained in stunned silence.
But that stunned silence lasted only a fleeting moment. Then, regardless of their true feelings, everyone began applauding and cheering for the Yates
family.
No one could believe that the Yates family had emerged victorious/in the Autumn Hunt
This was their debut appearance under their own name, yet they pulled off such an impressive victory. Some couldn’t stomach it, some refused to believe it, while others simply couldn’t accept it.
Mixed reactions rippled through the crowd.
“Your Majesty, His Highness Leon has returned as well,” a servant announced. Moments later, the crowd saw members of Leon House emerging, carrying several black bears on their shoulders.
Of course, none of them was the one the King designated.
Apart from Leon, who was likewise covered in dust and battle stains, everyone else emerged unscathed.
“Leon, are you hurt?” the Queen immediately asked.
Leon stepped forward, bowed to the King and Queen, and said respectfully, “Your Majesty, Your Highness, it’s just a minor scratch, nothing serious. Please don’t worry, Mother.”
The Queen nodded, then turned to the King with a smile and said, “Look at Leon, his robust physique and commanding presence truly mirror Your Majesty’s in your prime.”

The King beamed with pride as he gazed at his son, admiration shining in his eyes.
But when the King’s gaze fell upon the mask on his son’s face, he couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
With a wave of his hand, the King dismissed the Leon House party to rest.
Afterward, the rest of the hunting parties emerged from the forest in succession.
Adele grew increasingly anxious as she thought, ‘Why hasn’t Waldo House’s party appeared even this late?
‘Even if they missed the designated prey, they should have returned by now. Being late is far worse than coming back empty–handed.‘
“Your Majesty,” Adele asked anxiously, “could there be danger in the hunting grounds? My Waldo, he…”
The Queen reassured her, “Adele, please rest assured. There are black bears and other wild beasts in the hunting grounds, but they all roam alone. For someone as skilled as Waldo, there’s absolutely no danger to him.”
The Queen’s smile grew even more playful. “Perhaps Waldo is unwilling to admit defeat and is still searching for the designated prey, little does he know that Jessica has already hauled it back.”
Adele’s face darkened instantly. She snapped, “What do you mean, Your Majesty? Are you suggesting my Waldo is inferior to Jessica?”
