Chapter 251
“Jessica… did you let him get injured on purpose?” Gaibisch’s heart was still pounding wildly in his chest.
Waldo’s leg was crippled. If he could never stand again, his military career would be over for good.
Besides, as a prince, he was once the top contender for the throne.
Now, crippled in both leg and body, the throne was forever beyond his reach.
He was completely finished.
“Back when Priscilla was about to hurt you, he not only failed to stop her but even restrained you, making sure she succeeded.” Jessica’s words drained the color from Garbisch’s face.
More than two months have passed since that incident, but whenever Garbisch thought of it, the despair he felt still cuts as deep as a fresh wound.
His life, too, was ruined.
He had lost all hope for himself. All he wanted now was for Jessica and everyone in the Yates family to stay safe.
As for himself, Garbisch no longer cared what happened, whether he fell in battle or simply vanished, it made no difference.
His ice–cold hand was suddenly enveloped by a pair of small, warm hands.
Jessica gazed at his ice–cold hand, her eyes downcast. “Brother, your two enemies, one has become a cripple, and the other has had all hope for this life shattered. I know this won’t bring you any joy, but as your sister, this is the only thing I can do for you.”
“Jessica…” Garbisch felt a lump in his throat, his voice suddenly turning hoarse. “I never really wanted revenge. As long as you’re happy, Jessica, that’s all I ever wanted in this life.”
“But how can I be happy when you’re suffering, brother?” Jessica squeezed the back of his hand and smiled. “I’ve told you, I can protect you too, and ! mean it.”
“But Waldo…” Garbisch began, his voice trailing off.
“I truly have no feelings for him anymore. So, what becomes of him is none of my concern,” she said.
Garbisch had never believed it before, but now he truly did.
Jessica truly had no feelings left for Waldo whatsoever. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have stood by indifferently while the black wolf severed his leg tendons.
However, this was far too dangerous. Had Waldo been bitten to death, the Yates family would have faced dire consequences.
Garbisch looked at Jessica with concern. “Jessica, from now on, leave such dangerous things to your big brother. You…”
“Brother, you’re not as good at martial arts as I am. I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving this to you,” Jessica said with a smile.
Garbisch flushed with embarrassment.
He could only let out a long, heavy sigh, feeling both embarrassed and helpless.
Staring in disbelief, he exclaimed, “Where did you learn such incredible martial arts?”
“Mr. Wise personally taught me,” she replied/
“He actually wants to teach you martial arts himself?” Garbisch exclaimed in disbelief. “Even our mother, Celine, was only taught by Mr. Chambers and Mr. Goodwin.”

Chapter 251
In terms of martial arts lineage, Garbisch and Jessica held different statuses.
Back in Southernville at the Holden family, it was clear the mentors favored female disciples over males.
They were willing to be Jessica’s masters, yet refused to teach him. His martial arts came from his grandfather, while Jessica learned from those mysterious men.
Garbisch had initially thought Jessica only received personal instruction from Fawn in strategy and scheming. Little did he know that during his absence, she had even mastered martial arts.
Garbisch thought to himself, ‘If Wesley really taught her himself, then no wonder she’s this powerful.
‘No one truly knows just how astonishingly powerful those people’s martial arts prowess has become. I’ve never even had the chance to witness it myself.
‘All I knew was that even Mr. Goodwin, the weakest among them, could split a several–hundred–pound boulder with a single palm strike.
‘Such internal strength may sound unremarkable when described, but in the entire world, those who can truly master it can be counted on one hand.
Garbisch frowned. “But how could there be a pack of black wolves in the hunting grounds? This is simply unbelievable.”
Jessica replied coolly, “Black wolves weren’t the only threat, assassins too.”
