Chapter 366
In the end, Elijah finally departed, taking a thousand men from Kabury County with him.
What remained were the Northern Cavalry, now disguised in Kabury County soldiers‘ uniforms.
Elijah had picked out a few men for Jessica, but she had met them and knew they were indeed skilled in battle, but not leaders.
They even lacked confidence in themselves.
But she truly had no time to seek reinforcements from other generals. As for the original general of Kabury County, she didn’t know him at all, nor could she gauge how loyal he was to Leon.
If he were from other factions of the royal family, it could ruin her plans.
After giving the sand table one last thorough study, Jessica changed into her armor. Just as she was about to leave the command tent, a soldier rushed in breathlessly and reported, “Ms. Yates, someone broke into the camp. We have them surrounded!”
Jessica’s expression darkened, and she immediately strode toward the commotion.
Before she could arrive, another soldier came running up and reported breathlessly, “Ms. Yates, it’s… it’s the Yates family!”
A flicker of surprise crossed Jessica’s heart as she quickened her pace. In the distance, she saw three figures on horseback, encircled by her comrades in
a battle formation.
By then, the soldiers had recognized their identities. Immediately, their demeanor turned respectful as they formed ranks and cleared the path.
“Karlie! Leanna! Alivia!”
She could hardly believe her eyes. Never in her wildest dreams did Jessica expect to run into her aunts here.
They were here!
With them here, all her problems would be solved!
This was truly a godsend.
Alivia swung down from her horse and strode up to Jessica. “Did the main army just leave the city? Then why are Prince Leon’s troops still here?”
On their way here, they had already heard with concern that Leon was trapped.
Outside the city, dust hung in the air, a clear sign that troops had just passed through. There weren’t many of them, but the commotion was still audible.
Jessica’s heart swelled with admiration. “Alivia, your eyes are truly remarkable!”
Alivia had instantly recognized that the troops remaining in the city were Leon’s Northern Cavalry.
Though they’d changed into the garrison’s uniforms, nothing escaped Alivia’s keen observation.
Such a talent must have willingly stood behind her husband in the past, yielding all credit to him; otherwise, she would surely have been a renowned female general.
Leanna and Karlie swung down from their horses with practiced ease.
As battle–hardened veterans, they took one look at the tense scene and immediately grasped the urgency. A battle could erupt at any moment.
“Let’s talk inside,” Alivia commanded.

Jessica nodded and led her three aunts into the command tent.

The soldiers in the camp weren’t familiar with the three women, but after years of fighting on the Northern Borderlands, where female generals were common, they judged their commanders by ability, not by gender. Anyone who could lead them to victory was worthy of respect.
Especially since Elijah had declared before his departure that all matters must follow Jessica’s orders. Any disobedience would be met with execution.
Not a single soldier dared defy this command.
“Did Leon leave the troops here because he anticipated an ambush?” Leanna studied the sand table, her voice laced with concern. “Is the Stone Forest the same as the one you passed through when you rescued Prince Waldo last time? If it’s the same type of esoteric formation, Leon might struggle to find his way out.”
“I haven’t been there myself,” Jessica admitted, “so I can’t say for certain what the situation is like.”
Jessica could tell how much Leanna cared for Leon. In her eyes, he was already considered part of the Yates family.
Jessica said, “The Mystic Trigram Tactical Formations are incredibly diverse. Even if my master Halsey went there himself, he might not crack them all. I’d have to see it firsthand to know for sure.”
