Seeing Jensen so angry, the butler hurried to explain, “Mr. Jensen, Ms. Summers has been having some incontinence lately. I already assigned servants to take care of her; today one of them had an emergency and didn’t manage to come in time.”
“Outrageous!”
Jensen’s face darkened.
“She may be divorced from me, but she saved my life. She’s still someone Jensen owes. You treat her like this?”
The butler trembled.
“Mr. Jensen, we were wrong. We normally care for Ms. Summers properly-today was an accident.”
No one had expected Jensen to show up. They assumed he’d left Sharon locked away out of loathing; who could have guessed he might come to visit her?
Jensen’s brow tightened. He had other motives before, but now Sharon might be holding secrets about the Witch Doctor and things he didn’t yet understand. Sharon couldn’t be allowed to go mad.
He said sharply, “Get this cleaned up immediately. Have the family doctor examine her properly. I want her awake and in good condition within half an hour.”
“Yes, sir.”
Though the butler didn’t understand Jensen’s sudden concern, he scrambled to follow orders, inwardly nervous. Had Mr. Jensen decided to dote on Ms. Summers again? If so, would their prior mistreatment be exposed? What should they do? Was it still possible to cover things up if Ms. Summers didn’t make trouble?
Jensen didn’t know the servants’ fears. He slipped into the kitchen and cleared his throat-only one woman was there. She looked up at his arrival.
“Mr. Jensen? I put that medicine in her food every day. In less than two weeks she would truly lose her mind, and then-”
“Stop giving her the medicine. Stop it from now on.”
Jensen’s order froze the woman.

“Mr. Jensen, what do you mean?” she asked.
“I mean stop. Feed her normally from now on. This ends here.”

He handed her an envelope that felt heavy with cash. The woman’s eyes flashed with reluctant anger as she gripped it.
“Are you letting Ms. Summers go?” she asked, voice low.
“I have my reasons. Don’t do it anymore.”
Jensen turned to leave. After he went, the woman’s eyes took on a wild, bitter edge. Half a month more and Sharon would have truly gone mad-why was Jensen stopping it now? Why? Her daughter’s vengeance would be stalled.
She took a photo from her pocket: a picture of Zhang Fan’s wife. She stroked the image, tears welling.
“My girl, I will avenge you. I don’t know where you are now, but as long as I breathe, no one will bully you. Sharon and Zhang Fan-what they did was unforgivable. Jensen had you taken away, left Little Bao without care and no money for treatment. I will make Sharon pay.”
She put the photo back into her pocket and looked at the envelope. The money could send Little Bao to the hospital-but that illness… she couldn’t help but cry.
Jensen, unaware of this scene, exited the kitchen and found servants bustling to clean Sharon’s room. The family doctor had arrived and hurried over when he saw Jensen.
“Mr. Jensen!”
“How is Sharon?” Jensen asked, lighting a cigarette, his mood unsettled.
The doctor said, “Everything is controllable. We sedated her, so she’s resting. Her vitals are normal.”
“Detoxify her. I found she holds secrets connected to the Witch Doctor and other things I don’t yet understand. I need her alive and well.”
The doctor understood at once. “Don’t worry, Mr. Jensen. I’ll give her an antidote injection. As for the rest, with more fluids and stopping sedatives today, the toxins will gradually clear.”
“Good.” Jensen nodded.
The doctor hesitated. “Mr. Jensen, about the woman Hansel had detained-the one who stabbed Ms. Summers at the hospital-what should we do with her? Her state is poor. For now

I’ve kept her sedated, but that’s not a long-term solution. I’m worried she’ll truly break down mentally, and that would be bad for us.”
