When Yvonne got the news, she froze.

“Whatever the roadblock is, it might be planted to stop you. Just break through. Go to the Stone family villa first–we don’t know how my in–laws are doing.”

Baron’s heart was filled with unease.

stop.

She might have hesitated before–this wasn’t Murica, after all–but since Baron had given the order, she wasn’t going to hold back anymore.

“Drive through! Whatever happens, I’ll take responsibility!”

Her voice was cold, laced with a murderous edge.

Her men had been frustrated along the way, but when they heard her say that, they immediately let loose. Once the tire was replaced, the driver slammed the gas.

“Stop! Stop the car!”

The men at the roadblock shouted, waving their sticks.

Yvonne stared straight ahead, her eyes cold.

“Keep going!”

Following her command, the driver floored it, speeding up.

Seeing they weren’t going to stop, the men panicked and scrambled to get out of the way.

The car smashed through the barricade and sped on.

The shaken men patted their chests in relief, watching the car disappear. “Call it in. Tell them the Stone family’s car broke through. We couldn’t stop it.”

“Right.”

One of them immediately grabbed the phone.

Yvonne noticed they weren’t pursuing. That was enough to confirm it–ever since the police station, when someone had blocked her and Natalie, she had been led around by the nose.

She had grown up abroad, always following Baron’s ways. But coming to Ocean City, with the Stone couple here too, she had been more cautious.

Baron wanted to keep a low profile, so she really tried to act like an ordinary person.

Watching the phone cord dangle unplugged and the house quiet, Rachel figured enough time had passed. Things probably wouldn’t change anymore.
