Chapter 355 The Children Slip Away
Flynn’s words lifted the heavy weight pressing down on Yvonne’s heart.
Looking at his gentle, refined face, she couldn’t hold back her tears any longer.

“You don’t understand… Natalie was taken right in front of me. I wasn’t vigilant enough. I thought they were real police officers at the station, so I let them take her. If you want to hit me, go ahead. I lost Natalie.”
Her pain made Flynn’s chest tighten.
He wanted nothing more than to bring Natalie back right away, but this wasn’t the time to cast blame.
“Yvonne, right now we need to find Natalie–and the children. I know Baron has power here in Ocean City. Can you use your connections on the underground side, while I work through official channels?”
Yvonne nodded firmly.
Overnight, Ocean City was plunged into turmoil. Both the underworld and the authorities were mobilized, scouring every corner. Even ordinary citizens, unaware of the details, felt the air grow heavy with fear and tension.
Meanwhile, Susie and Sean, the very children everyone was searching for, had no idea what had happened to Natalie or the Stone family villa.
They had been in their room.
Susie was weighed down by sadness over Anna.
Back when she lived on the island, she hadn’t had many friends. Anna was the first girl to approach her kindly when she started kindergarten.
་
Susie thought she was lucky, that she had found friendship on her very first day. She even started ignoring her brother Sean a little, thinking that she saw him every day anyway, but a true friend wasn’t always there.
She gave Anna all her trust, only to be betrayed in the worst way. The blow hit her hard.
Sean, afraid she would sink into despair, kept trying to comfort her.
But then Susie hacked into the kindergarten’s system and saw the video–saw Finn. The sight

And his family seemed to hold significant power. If she offended them, would it bring trouble to her parents, grandparents, and uncle?
Susie felt guilty, convinced she had caused this mess. She turned to her brother. “I want to go see Finn in the hospital. If his family wants to take it out on me, that’s fine. Just as long as Mom, Dad, and the others don’t get dragged in.”
Sean’s heart ached at the sight of her tear–reddened eyes.
“This might not be that serious. Didn’t Mom already go to handle it?”
“But it’s my fault,” she whispered. “I didn’t see through Anna’s bad intentions, and Finn got hurt because of me. Didn’t Dad say it’s not scary to make mistakes, only scary not to correct them? I just want to see Finn. Will you come with me?”
Sean hesitated. “But Grandpa and Grandma won’t let us out. Anna’s still out there. Who knows what she’ll do? If we leave, the adults will worry.”
Susie bit her lip. “Then we’ll go quickly and come back early, all right? Please, brother. If I don’t make sure Finn’s okay, I’ll never have peace.”
Sean couldn’t resist her pleading look.
“Fine. I’ll go with you. But we can’t let Grandpa and Grandma know. We have to come back early. And we have to be careful.”
“Okay. I’ll listen to you.”
So the two of them climbed out the window.
Using her hacking skills, Susie erased the footage of them leaving, leaving no trace.
They never imagined that shortly after they slipped out, chaos would erupt at the Stone villa.
Rachel hadn’t been able to find the children, but she hadn’t dared waste time either–ironically sparing them from danger.
At that very moment, Susie and Sean were sitting in Finn’s hospital room with a basket of fruit, bowing their heads in apology.
“Finn, I’m sorry. I misjudged people and got you hurt. Can you forgive me?”

Inside, she was terrified. What if Finn hated her now? What if he never wanted to be her classmate again? But Dad had taught her: when you make a mistake, you face it.
No matter how Finn treated her now, she would accept it.
Sean’s heart ached, but he knew she needed to do this.
Aubree had already returned to the hospital to care for her son. Watching the little twins standing before Finn, both she and her husband felt a deep, unspoken envy.
