Baron’s voice was cold and sharp, his presence radiating hostility. Natalie suddenly thought back to the first time she saw him–at the Asteron Group’s press conference.

Back then, he’d carried that same dangerous edge; yet there had been a regal air about him that made people fall under his spell. If it hadn’t been for that devastatingly handsome face, she probably wouldn’t have had the courage–or the nerve–to march up to him and ask if he wanted to spend the night.

Remembering that moment, the corner of her lips curved slightly; a faint blush colored her cheeks.

When Waylon heard there was trouble on Baron’s end, he quickly said, “Something happened here in Ocean City. I’ll keep it short; just be careful while you’re out there.”

He then went on to explain what had happened.

When Baron and Natalie learned that someone had broken into the Stone family villa and tried to go after Waylon and Flynn, they both grew concerned.

“Dad, are you, Mom, and my brother okay?”

“We’re fine; it’s all over now. As for why someone’s targeting us, I’ll explain when you get back. I’ve already sent your mother away for safety; I’m about to go bring her back now.”

There were some things Waylon couldn’t say over the phone.

Baron had always found it strange–Rachel had lived under the Stone family’s roof for more than twenty years without ever making a move against them. There had to be more to it.

Now, hearing Waylon’s words and realizing Natalie’s kidnapping had been part of a larger conspiracy–a scheme aimed directly at the Stones–he began to piece it together. There was clearly a deeper secret at play.

He simply hadn’t known before because he wasn’t one of them; he had no right to know.

Now that Waylon was ready to reveal it, Baron wanted to hear everything; but he also knew some things couldn’t be said over the phone,

“Dad, we understand. We’ll head back as soon as we can.”

“Take good care of Natalie. The kids are fine here; with us around, there’s nothing to worry about. Payne’s been a big help too. When you get back, you should visit the Mateo family. I heard Natalie gets along well with Rio’s wife, Zoey?”

Natalie wasn’t sure why Waylon mentioned that, but she nodded anyway.

“Okay, dad. Got it.”

They exchanged a few more words before hanging up.

Just then, one of the men outside came in.

“Mr. Baron, there’s a visitor.”

Baron’s expression darkened immediately.

Natalie had only just woken up–her body still weak. Who could be so tactless as to visit right now?

He’d deliberately left a few clues to draw out the person behind the scenes, but that didn’t mean just anyone had the right to show up uninvited.

He was growing impatient.

He was about to tell them to send the visitor away when Natalie spoke up.

“Who is it?”

Everyone knew Natalie’s place in Baron’s heart; even the brothers understood how much Mr. Baron doted on his wife. None of the men dared take her question lightly.

“Madam, it’s Mr. Jensen–the president of Luke Corp.”

The moment those words left his mouth, Baron’s eyes turned razor–sharp, making the man instinctively flinch.

“Mr. Baron, it’s not that we didn’t try to stop him–Mr. Jensen just barged in like a lunatic. A few of our men are injured already. And his left hand seems to be hurt too; we didn’t dare use too much force, afraid he might accuse us of assault.”

The man spoke with visible frustration.

Natalie’s irritation flared the instant she heard Jensen’s name. Now, hearing her men sound so helpless, she grew even more annoyed with him.

Baron was already regretting everything.

If he’d known his little scheme would attract a pest like Jensen, he never would’ve let any trace of their location slip.

Natalie didn’t argue.

“I’m a little hungry–and tired. Make him leave; we’re both married people now, and I don’t want any rumors starting.”

At the mention of being married people, a small grin tugged at Baron’s lips; his mood instantly lifted.

“Don’t worry; I won’t let him disturb you.”

He had a meal brought in, and once he saw Natalie actually start eating, he finally rose and headed for the door.

The moment he stepped out of the bedroom, the warmth in his eyes vanished.

“Protect madam. Don’t let anyone near her.”

“Yes, Mr. Baron.”

The men quickly stationed several guards outside her door.

When Baron reached the entrance, he found Jensen looking completely unhinged, trying to force his way inside. Even when the guards drew their knives, he didn’t flinch–he actually leaned into them, scaring the men into backing off.

“Well, well, Mr. Jensen,” Baron drawled, his voice laced with mockery. “You’ve really outdone yourself this time.”
