When the Hidden Luna Rises novel Chapter 13

**Chained by Fate**

**Chapter 13**

Ryan stood frozen, disbelief washing over him like a cold tide.

For a moment, he questioned the very fabric of reality, wondering if his mind was playing tricks on him.

He blinked, forcing his eyes to focus, and then blinked again, hoping to dispel the illusion.

But there was no mistaking it. The she-wolf framed in the doorway was undeniably Kelsey.

She held herself with an air of grace, her slender form illuminated by the soft light, a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing within him. Yet, the warmth that once radiated from her eyes had been replaced by a chilling distance, as if a glacier had formed between them, sealing off any hope of reconciliation.

She was now Andrew’s “beloved.”

“Kelsey?”

His voice emerged hoarse, almost cracking under the weight of his emotions.

“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at home?”

اللہ

Her expression remained impassive, devoid of the surprise he had anticipated. Instead, she responded with a tone that was as frigid as the winter wind.

“Thanks to you, I didn’t die in the Stormclaw Pack. Are you disappointed?”

Ryan felt as though he had been struck by a physical blow, the sharpness of her words cutting through him.

“What are you talking about? How could that be? You’re the most important she-wolf to me.”

He instinctively stepped forward, yearning to bridge the widening chasm between them, but her retreat halted him in his tracks.

In that fleeting moment, it felt as if his heart had been torn apart by unseen claws, leaving him exposed and vulnerable.

“Kelsey, what do you mean?”

She averted her gaze, a cold laugh escaping her lips, echoing in the silence that enveloped them.

“What do I mean? Are you really going to pretend you don’t remember what you did?”

Ryan’s brow furrowed, impatience creeping into his voice, laced with a growing sense of dread.

“What is it this time? The photos? I had my team bury them. The story is gone. What more do you want me to do?”

He reached out, desperate to soothe her, as he had tried countless times before.

“Kelsey, I know I’ve been neglecting you lately. Once this project is over, we can—”

“Don’t bother.” She interrupted him, her voice steady yet chillingly resolute.

“Ryan, it’s over between us.”

Those words sliced through the air like a razor, leaving him reeling.

Ryan’s expression darkened, shadows creeping into his features.

“Kelsey, how long are you going to keep this up? So what if a few photos were seen? Once I’m in power, who would dare to challenge me?”

“Others might not dare.”

Her voice suddenly escalated, nearly a scream that reverberated in the stillness.

“But you did!”

He froze, the gravity of her accusation pinning him in place.

Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, yet they held a fierce strength, refusing to succumb to weakness.
