**Chapter 11**

Days turned into an agonizing blur for Ryan as he scoured every corner of their town in search of Tessa, but it felt as if she had slipped through the very fabric of reality, leaving no trace behind.

Each passing hour deepened the gnawing worry that clawed at his insides, a relentless reminder of her absence. He found himself consumed by thoughts of her, desperately wishing for even the faintest whisper of news, yet all he received were crushing waves of disappointment that washed over him like cold water.

In the silence of that house, he sat alone, the walls closing in around him. Chloe’s incessant calls went unanswered, each ring a reminder of the chaos that had erupted in his life. The thought of her filled him with a visceral disgust that clouded his mind. If it hadn’t been for Chloe, Tessa would never have felt the need to leave him.

With a heavy sigh, he turned off his phone, severing any remaining ties to Chloe and the outside world. He felt a desperate urge to find something—anything—that might connect him to Tessa. He rifled through every drawer, every closet, as if unearthing a forgotten relic might somehow bring her back.

But there was nothing. Just a hollow emptiness that echoed his despair. The only item that caught his eye was a crumpled medical report, carelessly discarded in the trash.

As he studied the paper, his heart sank. Tessa had given six vials of blood. The realization hit him like a punch to the gut. Tessa had always struggled with pain; it was one of the many scars left by the abuse she had endured at the hands of pack members during her childhood. The doctor had told him once that her pain tolerance was alarmingly low, making even the slightest discomfort feel like a torment.

Ryan’s fingers clenched around the report, his breath quickening as memories flooded back. He could almost see the scene playing out before him—the day she had realized the truth. She must have known everything. The thought twisted in his gut; she must have loathed him to such an extent that she chose to vanish without a word, without a trace. Not even a message to explain why she had left.

Now, he was left with the unbearable weight of knowing that all of Tessa’s suffering was a direct consequence of his actions. He could no longer deny it; he regretted every moment that had led to this.

Meanwhile, Chloe’s frustration reached a boiling point. She called Ryan repeatedly, her voice filled with increasing anger. When her calls went unanswered, she snapped, throwing her phone onto the floor in a fit of rage.

“All because of Tessa? He won’t even pick up the phone for days!” she shouted, her voice echoing through the empty house.

In a storm of fury, she marched into Tessa’s old room, still clinging to the faint hope that Tessa would return. Determined to erase any remnants of her presence, she began shoving everything that belonged to Tessa into a box.

“Burn it! Get rid of it all!” she yelled, her voice trembling with emotion.

As a maid passed by, carrying the box, Audrey’s eyes widened with recognition. Without needing to ask, she understood that the contents were Tessa’s.

Days had slipped by, and still, there was no sign of Tessa. Even Audrey, who had always maintained a distant indifference toward her, felt a growing sense of dread settle in her heart.

She reached out and grabbed the maid’s arm, her voice firm. “Leave it there. Don’t touch it.”
