**Chapter 8**

“I know this Omega,” a voice sneered, dripping with disdain.

“Word is, she’s completely lost it, obsessed with the idea of becoming Luna. She tried to seduce the Alpha, but it backfired spectacularly—she even stripped for him, and now look at her, dumped harder than anyone could imagine,” another voice chimed in, laughter lacing every syllable.

“Absolutely disgusting. How can any she-wolf be so shameless?” came the retort, the words sharp as knives.

The mocking tones reverberated through the cramped confines of the detention center, echoing off the cold, unforgiving walls of the narrow cell.

Kelsey pressed her back against the frigid concrete, her pale complexion marred by bruises and cuts that told a tale of sorrow and struggle. She felt the weight of their words, heavy and suffocating, pressing down on her like a physical force.

“Hey, new girl. Get over here,” a voice barked from across the room, sharp and unyielding.

The she-wolf, clad in the drab uniform of the prison, had a voice that was both coarse and commanding, punctuated by a mocking laugh that sent a chill down Kelsey’s spine.

“Can’t you hear? Get the hell over here!” she repeated, impatience flooding her tone.

Without warning, a brutal shove sent Kelsey crashing against the unforgiving concrete wall. A searing pain exploded through her shoulder, radiating like a wildfire through her body.

Yet, in comparison to the agony that twisted in her heart, this physical pain felt trivial.

When the she-wolf noticed Kelsey’s lack of resistance, irritation flashed in her eyes, a storm brewing beneath her surface.

“Playing the victim, are we? Speak up!” she demanded, her voice rising with hostility.

In a sudden, violent motion, she raised her hand and slapped Kelsey hard across the face, the sound echoing like a gunshot in the small space.

“Go ahead. Beat me to death,” Kelsey replied, her voice steady but laced with a quiet defiance. She lifted her head, eyes hollow yet burning with an inner strength. In that moment, she resolved to stop begging for mercy.

“Feisty,” the she-wolf scoffed, a cruel smile curling her lips. “Too bad the Stormclaw Pack Alpha has given us orders, told us to ‘take care’ of you. Since they want to witness your demise, we’ll be more than happy to oblige.”

Thud!

A heavy kick connected with her chest, sending her sprawling against the iron bars. She gasped, blood spilling from her lips, the metallic taste flooding her mouth.

The onslaught was relentless—fists rained down, feet kicked mercilessly, and curses filled the air like a dark cloud.

Kelsey curled into a tight ball on the floor, desperately shielding her head as wave after wave of pain crashed over her, each moment stretching into eternity.

When her assailants finally grew weary, she lay there, a mere shell of her former self, hollow and broken.

Blood pooled on her lips, every breath a struggle, tasting of iron and despair.

A bracelet, once a symbol of hope, was yanked from her wrist, rolling across the floor until it came to rest amidst the dust. The moonstones embedded in it glimmered faintly, their beauty stark against the grimy ground.

It was a precious gift from Ryan.
