Lemira felt certain Mrs. Sinclair wasn't telling the truth.

"Just write a number on the check. The money will be in your account today."

Lemira laughed out loud, took the check, and began writing.

Mrs. Sinclair downed her coffee in one gulp. She couldn't believe Lemira had the audacity to ask for nearly a billion dollars.
