When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 47

The initial investment included the office space, equipment, staff, and other overhead. But for a film production company, the real costs were in a film's investment and marketing. The employees knew the business well enough to do a rough calculation. Just to establish the company and fund Matteo's first movie, especially one that launched him to stardom, the investment had to be over one hundred million.

Industry insiders had always said Matteo had a meteoric rise, debuting at his peak. His first film was a heavily funded, high-brow production that became a massive hit upon release. He won Best Actor that very first year, becoming one of the rare few in the industry to achieve such a feat right out of the gate.

And it was all because of Ms. Sargent. It turned out that when Ms. Sargent decided to promote someone, she didn't mess around. It seemed she had prepared a billion dollars just to launch Matteo’s career.

After processing this, everyone stared at Matteo, speechless.

Matteo, who knew the numbers better than anyone, was so shocked his hands and lips began to tremble. His eyes reddened as tears welled up.

No one was surprised by his reaction; it was entirely warranted.

Matteo looked deeply at Henrietta and whispered, “My love…”

He never would have guessed. Back when he was a nobody, hitting roadblocks everywhere, refusing to take supporting roles and insisting on being the lead, the girlfriend he thought was just pretty with a good best friend was secretly spending a fortune to catapult him to the top. In that instant, he was consumed by a profound regret.

Yet Henrietta remained expressionless, her cool elegance undisturbed, showing no flicker of emotion.

After the initial shock, the crowd did some more mental math. That was just for Matteo’s debut film. What about what came after? A production company couldn’t survive on a single movie and a single actor. With subsequently signed artists and new film investments needed to scale up the company... the total investment was likely at least one and a half billion, if not more.

Over the next two years, some films made money, some lost money, some capital was tied up in ongoing productions, and new projects constantly required funding. The cash flow had to be maintained. That meant having a few billion in operating capital on hand… and being ready to invest more whenever a good script came along. The amount of money was staggering, but the key point was that the entire purpose of this media empire was for one man.

If the company belonged to Winona, it could be seen as a business venture. But knowing it was Henrietta’s, the true weight of it all was something only Matteo could fully grasp.
