When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 63

The idea was intoxicating. Artina could already picture it, getting lost in the fantasy.

“I don’t know if I could bear to give my child to her,” she said, pouting playfully. “What if she ruins them?”

“Don’t worry,” Matteo reassured her. “My mother would raise the child herself.”

Satisfied, Artina feigned reluctance. “Alright, then. But are you sure you can go through with it? Henrietta is so beautiful…”

“What good is beauty alone?” Matteo scoffed. “With a personality like hers, she doesn’t deserve to have my children. Can you imagine the kind of kid she’d raise? They’d probably grow up to give me a heart attack!”

Hearing Henrietta being torn down filled Artina with glee. “And you’re so sure she’ll take you back and marry you? And hand over the Sargent Group?”

“She loves me that much,” Matteo said confidently. “She won’t want to marry anyone else. She’s their only daughter; it’s only a matter of time before I’m in charge.”

“And even if she doesn’t take me back,” he added, “we’ll have become international stars. When our contracts are up, we can just leave. We won’t lose either way.”

Artina considered this and had to agree. She let out a smug laugh. “You know, Henrietta really is as dumb as a pig. She’s so overconfident, thinking her pretty face is all she needs. Brainless idiots are only good for being decorative. Matteo, once you have control of the Sargent Group, you have to kick her out.”

“We’ll just play it by ear,” Matteo said. “Either way, we come out on top. Now, babe, delete the chat logs. If they accidentally leak, it’ll ruin our entire plan.”

Thoroughly placated, Artina agreed. “Fine, I’ll delete them. Let’s do it together, so we can both be sure.”

In truth, they were both playing their own game, each terrified the other would leak the messages and destroy their careers.

“Okay,” Matteo nodded.

They both took out their phones and, in front of each other, permanently erased every trace of their conversations.
