When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 9

The daughter of the Sargent family getting married would be a massive affair, one that would take time to plan.

Henrietta pursed her lips. “There’s no engagement.”

The two friends stared at her. “What happened?”

Henrietta waved the stylists away and recounted the events of the previous night. She remained perfectly composed throughout, as if she were merely telling a story about someone else’s cheating boyfriend.

“That bastard!” Winona slammed her hand on the table.

Charlotte was equally furious. “Holy crap, I never would have guessed. He was always so good to you… Ugh, it makes me sick!”

Winona frowned. “Henrietta, what are you going to do? You’re not breaking up with him? You’re still going to the party? I know your family is calling it a birthday celebration, but Matteo has invited his own guests, and he’s telling everyone it’s an engagement party!”

Charlotte added, “And once he finds out you’re a Sargent heiress today, he’ll probably cling to you for dear life. The nerve of that guy! He knows he’s a public figure and still can’t keep it in his pants! Did he think he could get away with it because he thought your family was ‘ordinary’? Or did he think he had covered his tracks perfectly? He even came up with the idea of a fake marriage certificate. That’s just evil!”

“Henrietta, you took pictures of the evidence, right?” Winona said, fuming. “Leak it now! The scandal will destroy him. There’s only one fate for a disgraced celebrity: ruin! He won’t be able to work in this city ever again!”

Henrietta remained silent.

Charlotte frowned. “But he’s always maintained a single persona to the public. He even made Henrietta delete their chat history every day. Besides us, nobody even knows they’re a couple.”

“Even if we can’t prove he cheated on her,” Winona argued, “those messages with Artina are enough to make all his adoring fans abandon him!”

“But that’s letting him off too easy!” Charlotte gritted her teeth.

Henrietta picked up an eyebrow pencil, lightly defining her brows as she gazed at her ethereal reflection in the mirror. “No need to rush,” she said calmly. “I’m just setting a trap.”

Her friends’ eyes widened. “You have a plan?”

Henrietta set the pencil down, her lips forming a cool, thin line. “What chance does he have against a Sargent heiress?”
