Chapter 16
“Lizzy!”
Samson pulled Elizabeth into a tight hug, tears spilling down his face.
Ever since she left the country, he’d never truly stopped worrying. Every month, he sent her money without fail.
It wasn’t until he noticed her account hadn’t been touched that he realized the truth–she had secretly joined a medical aid mission in a warzone.
From that moment on, all he could think about was whether Elizabeth was okay out there.
Later, he found out that Daniel had dragged her back to Kaverton and locked her away.
The villa was heavily guarded, and he tried to force his way in several times but failed. So he did the only thing left–he set the place on fire.
Thank God, Elizabeth made it out.
“Lizzy, it’s my fault! I never should’ve accused you. I never should’ve let you suffer like that…” Samson sobbed, his voice thick with guilt.
Back then, he thought she was just jealous of Cheryl; he thought she’d brought the shame on herself.
It wasn’t until much later that the truth hit him–Elizabeth had been the victim all along. She’d been used, manipulated, and destroyed by Daniel and Cheryl. Her name, dignity, and safety were ruined.
He was filled with regret and silently vowed to make Daniel and Cheryl pay a heavy price for everything they’d done. He needed to get justice for Elizabeth, no matter what it took.
After crying in each other’s arms for a while, Elizabeth suddenly pulled back, worry flashing in her eyes.
“Daniel’s ruthless. You got me out, but he’s not going to let this go. He won’t stop until he gets revenge…”
After everything she’d been through, she knew it all too well that Daniel wasn’t just controlling, he was unhinged.
His obsession, his cruelty–it had long since crossed any line a sane person wouldn’t dare.
But Pamela gently squeezed her shoulder, trying to ease her fears.
“Don’t worry, Ellie. Your dad didn’t just save you; he planned everything. While he was figuring out how to break you out, he was also building a case to take down the Woolridge Group. Everything Daniel and Cheryl did? It’s all out now. Public and viral. Daniel’s done for.”
That night, the tangled web of hatred and betrayal between the Woolridge and Fisher families exploded across social media.
Once people learned what Daniel and Cheryl had done to Elizabeth, public outrage spread like wildfire.
The internet turned against them overnight, and Woolridge Group’s stock plummeted.
Daniel, unable to take the pressure, suffered a relapse of an old illness and was rushed to the hospital.
