Chapter 530
Whenever Hannah was away, Chloe always looked after herself, doing her best not to make her wUNTE
Still, every time school let out and she saw classmates happily walking off hand–in–hand with that parents de couldn’t help the look of envy that slipped into her eyes
They had already taken biology classes. She knew children didn’t grow on trees or get picked up off the street s were born because their parents loved each other.
Without a father and a mother, there would be no them
But ever since Chloe could remember, it had always just been Hannah by her side. Not once had she seem even the shadow of a father.
One time, driven by curiosity, she had asked Hannah, “Where’s my daddy”
She still remembered the flicker of sadness that crossed Hannah’s face.
Hannah had asked in return, “Am I not doing a good enough job? Is that why you want a daddy
But that wasn’t it. It wasn’t because Hannah wasn’t enough. It was because she was doing so well. She shouldered everything on her own, and that made Chloe’s heart ache.
She felt sorry for the Hannah who skipped meals to stay in shape and for the one who collapsed into bed and slept for two days straight after working herself to the bone.
She felt sorry for the Hannah who once got rushed to the ER after pushing herself past her limit, only to show up the very next morning on set, smiling and waving to the cameras.
Sometimes Chloe couldn’t help but wonder if things would be easier for Hannah if she had a father.
But she didn’t know where her father was. No one had ever brought him up. Did she really not have a father? That question haunted her for a long time.
Some of her classmates even made fun of her for it, calling her a bastard kid without a father.
That day, Chloe almost lost it. She had this wild urge to charge over and punch the boy in the face. She shouted back that she did have a father.
But no matter how loudly she argued, she couldn’t prove it because she truly had no idea where her father was.
Maybe he had gone to heaven, and it made Hannah too sad to talk about him. Or maybe he didn’t like Chloe, so he just abandoned her.
Still, Chloe wasn’t the type to dwell for too long. If she didn’t know who her father was, she would just find herself
a new one.
The first requirement to be her father was that he had to be super hot.
So one day after school, Chloe snuck off to a massive, fancy building. Hannah used to come here a lot. It had to be the right place.
“Drang Elizoom?” Xander looked at the sign and blinked. “Are you sure your dad is here?”
He insisted on tagging along, even though Chloe told him not to. He said that he could protect her if something dangerous happened.
Like she needed help from a crybaby who bawled more than she did.

Still, an extra person meant extra eyes. And besides, Xander’s father was pretty hot. Maybe his taste wasn’t that bad. He might help her pick someone good.
“Dummy! It’s Drunk Elizoom,” she corrected proudly.
“It’s Drunk Elysium, kids,” the security guard said with a chuckle. “This isn’t a place for little ones. Where are your parents?”
“I came here to find my dad!” Chloe beamed.
She had noticed the people going in and out of the building were mostly tall, handsome men. And Hannah always said she liked handsome ones best!
Upon hearing that, the security guard just assumed her father really was at Drunk Elysium. After all, the uniforms she and Xander were wearing were from one of Castenea’s top elite schools. He led them straight to the VIP conference room on the third floor.
