However, Anathea didn’t go into Sinclair Group. Instead, she turned to enter the next–door building that belon Group.
Presgrave
Dominic had been vying for a collaboration with Presgrave Group, but Macon wouldn’t budge. As stich, Dominic had no choice but to attempt to curry favor with Dayanna.
Alas, despite several attempts, Dominic failed to get close to Dayana. He ended up sending Anathea to do the job instead. After all, who would know a woman better than another woman?
It so happened that Anathea caught wind that Dayanna would drop by Presgrave Group this noon to give Macon his lunch. Sure enough, not long after Anathea claimed a seat in the lounge, she saw Dayanna emerging through the lobby.
“Mrs. Presgrave!” Anathea rose to her feet and approached Dayana, smiling congenially. “Good afternoon. I’m Anathea Jacobson-”
Dayanna recognized Anathea before the latter finished introducing herself. “Oh, it’s you!”
Anathea paused. “Do you know me, Mrs. Presgrave?”
“Gosh, Mr. Sinclair came up to us once and asked if he could show your picture on the large screen at our party, all in hopes of pursuing you, his runaway wife.” Dayanna chuckled.
“You’ve no idea how desperate he seemed when he bargained with us. It was the first time we saw the intimidating Mr. Sinclair look so helpless!”
An odd look flickered in Anathea’s eyes, but it disappeared just as quickly as she smiled. “You’ve got quite the memory, Mrs. Presgrave.”
“So, how are things between the two of you?” Dayanna asked curiously. “Is Mr. Sinclair still as cold and domineering as ever?”
Anathea recalled Gregory holding her hand at the hospital and begging her not to take off the jacket he’d put on her and wear another man’s jacket. Her lips curled wryly. “Oh, he’s changed a lot.”
“Well, that’s good, isn’t it?” Dayanna grinned. “We women shouldn’t spend the rest of our lives with men who won’t change for the better for our sakes, right? We should never have to settle for less.“,
Anathea studied Dayanna. The woman was pushing 50, yet her face was youthful and radiant, and she was always smiling. It was clear that she and her husband were happily married.
Nodding, Anathea agreed, “You’re right, Mrs. Presgrave.”
“So, what did you want to see me for?” Dayanna asked forthrightly. She was no fool and knew Anathea hadn’t dropped by for a
casual visit.
Anathea cut to the chase. “You see, Mr. Lancaster would like to work with Presgrave Group. I figured your words carry equal weight in the Presgrave family and decided to speak to you directly about this.”
Upon hearing this, Dayanna appraised Anathea from head to toe.
Dayanna was but a lady of leisure. She enjoyed dividends from Presgrave Group and spent her days shopping with her friends and luxuriating in afternoon tea sessions.
Not once had she asked about company affairs, so what weight could her words possibly carry?
And yet, Anathea had cleverly referred to Dayanna’s position in the Presgrave family, not the company. Dayanna might not have ever asked about her husband’s business, but no matter how impressive Macon’s work accomplishments were, she still had the final say in the family home.
Dayanna knew where Anathea’s intentions lay, but she was in no rush to show any interest in Anathea’s proposition.
