Wild Nights With My Brother’s Ex-Best Friend novel Chapter 171

NICOLE

“Problem?” Laura echoes like she has no idea what I’m talking about. There’s a smile on her lips that really makes me violent because I know she’s doing this just to provoke me at this point. “Who said anything about a problem?”

I stand up and shut the laptop. “Do you think coming here to try to undermine me is ever going to make Roman yours? You’re wasting your time!”

Her gaze sharpens and that’s when I find out that I hit the nail of the head. “No, you’re wasting your breath trying to make a decent and honest man out of him. I’ve been with him before, and let me tell you, men like him? They never stay faithful for long.”

I stare at her for a few beats before saying, “So, your intention is to…what? Have an affair with him? Have him all for yourself?”

Laura clasps her hands in front of her. “I guess that’s none of your concern.”

Great. After having an absolutely shitty night, this is just what I needed. Another psycho trying to make me feel bad about being with him. Roman’s choice in women is… questionable. I hope I’m not like any of these desperate woman.

“Well, then, good luck in your endeavors. You want to goafter him? Seduce him? Get him to fuck you? Be my guest.

Go right ahead. Try your hardest. Were you expecting a whole fight where I’d warn you to stay away from you and threaten you? Please. I have much better things to do.”

I start toward the exit with the laptop tucked under my arm. She says, “That simple, huh?”

“You bet your ass it’s that simple,” I retort. “If he turns out to be the man you say he is, I’ll leave him. You know what?

You’d actually be doing me a favor. I’ll know then that I’m cooped up with a cheater. So, keep on trying. Maybe someday, you’ll get lucky and I’ll say good riddance.”

I head to my office, fuming but satisfied with how l handled the situation. I drop my laptop on my desk and then head back outside to have some water.

Leonardo approaches me a couple of seconds later, and of course, he’s furious. “Have you lost your mind?”

I just glance at him and tip my head back to down my water.

“You should treat our clients with respect,” he hisses before stepping even closer to me, getting all up in my face. “I know that concept doesn’t exist for a gutter rat like you, but that’s how we do things around here!”

Leonardo, why don’t you save your breath for one goddamned second!?” I ask loudly, not caring about who’s listening. “I dealt with a whore trying to sleep with my husband, not a client. If she wanted to keep itprofessional, she should’ve kept my husband’s name out of her filthy, STD-ridden mouth.”

Leonardo is speechless as I take a few steps away from him. Another thought occurs to me and I stop. “Oh, and considering she’s your whore, you should attend to her next time. I’m sure you’re very well acquainted with her… needs.”

I lock myself in my office-yes, lock-and try to focus on. working, but it’s virtually impossible. It doesn’t help that Roman keeps calling me. My phone has vibrated twice already, and I just keep ignoring it. For some reason, I’m really mad at him now, even if I wasn’t feeling this way when I left the penthouse.

But dammit, I’m the one who accepted him like this. I knew what kind of problems we’d have. I’m not blaming him for Laura, but the issue with Emeralda was familiar to me, and I had the choice not to take him back.

I chose not torlet her nonsense get between them, and that’s a choice I’m supposed to live with quietly, right?

So, it’s not fair for me to feel this upset, yet 1 can t stop myself.

I sigh when he calls me for the fifth time. I thought hed quit, but no such luck. If I don’t answer him, he might just try to come here and then that’ll lead to even more trouble.

Since the issue with Sebastian, he’s been banned from coming here. Angus even got a restraining order against him.

“Baby,” he says as soon as he answers the phone. “I was worried. You’re not home.”
