I watched as Lisa slept in a much more comfortable bed that the hospitals provided even in the VVIP Wards.
I booked the best doctors in the country for two weeks instead and as for every equipment they needed? I had bought them all already though some were still on their way here.
Yeah, I was probably building my own medical facility but that was great anyways. I did have my own team of doctors who always took care of the injured men and all but I didn’t want then attending to Lisa.
“I love you” I whispered softly and kissed the back of her hands.
My Cupcake looked better now. She had eaten even though it was very little but I was glad she did eat.
The cute woman on my bed insisted though that she was feeling better because she saw me and not because of the meal I had. The baby? Our baby was still there. Strong just like her pretty mother.
I got up on my feet, bent a little over with a groan and kissed Lisa on the forehead.
My entire body ached. My gunshot wounds hadn’t even healed up. They still hurt badly but I could swear I didn’t feel any of the pain until I was back home.
Funny how one’s brain decided to ignore some certain pains when one is in some certain situation.
Diane walked into the room and gave me a small smile before looking at sleeping Lisa. Diane had cried when she saw me walk in with Lisa and then she had uttered loads of thank you’s to me.
She walked up to Lisa and gently patted her hair.
“Again, thank you so much” she thanked me.
“Those words are starting to sound a bit annoying since I have heard them so much. Again, Lisa is my life. I saved my very own life”
Diane smiled and then looked away.
“Seb used to say something similar” she sniffed in.
“I am sorry about Seb. I really am” I chipped in an apology.
“Yeah, I know. It wasn’t your fault, I understand better now” she mumbled.
“I am just happy… Glad that Lisa has a man who loves her this much.”
“I am more glad Lisa chose to love a man like me”
“You underestimate how good of a man you are” Diane smiled and then frowned a bit.
“But you also do over estimate your strength as a man, don’t you? You need to be back in a bed and be tended to by doctors and nurses, Mr. Devine. Don’t make my daughter a widow before she even gets married”
“Talking about marriage…” I studied Lisa’s expression to confirm she was asleep.
“I have your blessings now, right?” I asked.
“Sure, you do and don’t act like my blessings mattered so much. You are going to marry her even without my blessings”
“True” I affirmed with a chuckle.
“But it would be better with your blessings” I added.
“Enough talking, Mr. Devine. The doctors said you are going to breakdown soon if you go on”
“Alright” I groaned and holding the bedframe, I leaned down and kissed Lisa’s forehead again.
“Will be back” I whispered to her.
TWO WEEKS LATER
“LUCIUS!” Lisa yelled my name.
“On my way, Love” I called back, pushing the door open with a glass of orange juice, a glass of banana juice, a glass of apple juice and two other glasses of fruit juice. 2
