**Chapter 200**

“First, drink the soup. Only then will I consider what you’ve proposed,” Nyla stated firmly, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Clark leaned back slightly, his brow furrowing in frustration. “Nyla, my father mentioned that as long as you don’t turn over the evidence to the police, you can demand any compensation you desire,” he insisted, his voice laced with urgency.

Nyla set the bowl down on the table, her face a mask of inscrutability as she met Clark’s gaze. “I said I would think about it. Right now, you need to concentrate on getting better. I’ll come by again tomorrow,” she replied, her words clipped as she turned on her heel and left the room.

Once Nyla was gone, Clark’s pent-up frustration bubbled over, and he quickly dialed Cyrus, his voice betraying his agitation. “She still hasn’t agreed to anything,” he said, exasperation evident in every syllable.

Cyrus’s voice dripped with disdain. “I warned you that trying to elicit sympathy wouldn’t work, but you insisted on this pathetic charade. Are you really ready to throw in the towel now?”

Just a short while ago, Cyrus had contemplated eliminating Nyla entirely, but Clark had convinced him to adopt a more theatrical approach—playing the role of a tragic hero who had been left disabled while attempting to save her. The aim was to soften her heart, to manipulate her into destroying the evidence. Yet, all their plotting had led to nothing but disappointment.

“I never imagined she could be so cold. Even now, with my legs shattered, she remains unyielding. She’s adamant about the divorce and refuses to destroy the evidence,” Clark lamented, his voice thick with bitterness.

His mind raced with anger, struggling to comprehend why Nyla’s response was so starkly different from what he had envisioned.

“It’s because you lack conviction. But don’t worry; I have someone keeping an eye on her. If she truly plans to hand that evidence over to the police, I’ll ensure she vanishes without a trace,” Cyrus declared, his tone chillingly confident.

Clark inhaled sharply, a flicker of cold determination igniting in his eyes.

If Nyla went through with her plan to inform the authorities, not only would Cyrus face imprisonment, but he too would be dragged into the mess. With Nyla showing such a ruthless side, he realized he needed to prioritize his own survival.

“Alright,” Clark replied, a newfound resolve hardening his voice.
