Liam sat by the bed, wanting to raise his hand to stroke her head, but his hand paused in mid-air due to uncertainty.

Andrea did not notice his movements and just kept crying while clutching her head.

Liam opened his mouth but didn't know what to say. At this moment, he felt like a bastard. He turned away and went out, smoking two cigarettes in the hospital's smoking area. As he looked at the people passing by, he felt that the world was so surreal.

Then, his phone rang. It was Grace.

"Liam, I just dropped off a gift at your place. The maids said you weren't around, but since it's your birthday today, I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday."

The gift had been chosen by her and Joanne. It should suit his tastes. She had gone shopping with Joanne in the evening as she had not wanted to spend Christmas Eve alone.

Liam stubbed the cigarette in his hand. He didn't usually smoke, so he found it bitter. Taking a deep breath, he went downstairs, about to go home.

Just as he started to leave, Andrea walked out of the ward. Her face was as pale as a sheet, her eyes empty. She walked lifelessly toward him while muttering to herself, "I'll never forgive Grace… She's got it coming… Never…"

Liam quickly hugged her, his heart aching. He felt like he had wronged everyone.

He had wronged Andrea, who had carried his child. He had also wronged his father by not listening to what he had taught him. There was also his mother because of what he had hidden from her.

But he had no idea whether or not he had wronged Grace.

Andrea's mind was blank. She only felt like she was bound tightly, so much so that she was suffocating. She struggled before ultimately breaking down and screaming. Then, she slapped Liam.

Liam's head was slightly turned from the impact, but he remained silent.
