99 Times for Alpha’s Bestie novel Chapter 104

Kian, what are you doing?” Joseph shouted angrily, his face pale with worry that Kian might interrupt

Evan’s recovery.

Kian, however, remained unfazed. He waved his hand dismissively and strode to Evan’s side.

Kian wouldn’t typically ignore his father’s warnings, but Lucien was his Alpha, and clearly Lucien had given Kian instructions through their link.

With swift movements, Kian crouched down next to his recovering little brother and pulled a small recording device from Evan’s pocket, holding it as if it were a powerful tool that could change everything.

“This recorder was a gift from Alpha Lucien for Evan’s birthday last month,” Kian said, as he glanced at Breanne with a mocking tone. “It was meant to monitor his condition during seizures. See? It’s coming in handy today!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Brennan’s face visibly turned as pale as a sheet.

Fear flashed in her eyes just as she spotted Liam rushing in from the entrance.

“Oh, thank the Goddess, Liam is here!” In that instant, she lunged at him, gripping his arm tightly as if he were her saviour.

Liam, who had just arrived from the airport, was confused by the scene before him.

“Breanne, what’s going on? What happened?” Liam shook her hands off.

I wasn’t clear why he did it; perhaps, for once, Liam was trusting his instincts.

The recording had already been uploaded to the computer, and Breanne’s sharp, and disrespectful words began to fill the large hall.

“M-Ms. Telder, h-hi, I’m E-Evan.”

“Oh! So you’re the wolfless loser of the Beta family? I thought you were someone important! Turns out you’re just a stuttering nobody!”

“Breanne Telder, watch your mouth! Evan’s just trying to be polite. How could you insult him? Don’t you have any manners?”

“What did I say wrong? He’s just a stuttering wolfless nobody! He should know his place and not bother or pursue me! What’s wrong with me making him realize the truth? Claire, stop pretending to be the good person here!”

Each segment of the recording echoed clearly throughout the hall.

In that moment, all eyes turned incredulously toward Breanne.

Upon hearing her blatant disrespect toward his son, Joseph lost control of himself.

“Ms. Telder, it was you? You may look down on Evan, but he’s a genius, kind-hearted, and he has plenty of admirers! Get out of here! I never imagined Alpha and Luna Sterling would raise such a despicable, vile daughter like this and then try to push that poison onto my family through mating. It’s truly eye-opening! From now on, the Cruz family will have no dealings with the Sterling Moon pack!”

Once Joseph finished speaking, both Alpha Henry and Luna Stephanie, who had been hiding in the crowd, immediately stepped forward.

Alpha Henry’s face flushed with embarrassment as he repeatedly apologized.

“Beta Cruz, we truly failed in our upbringing of my deceased Beta’s daughter.”

Right away, I noted the change in titles that Alpha Henry was labelling Breanne; he was attempting to distance himself from the connection.

“I’m truly sorry for her inappropriate behaviour today. We owe you and the Cruz family an apology. We’ve known one another for decades. Our previous interactions have always been pleasant. We can’t let this minor drama ruin our relationship!”

“Excuse me, did you just deliberately refer to your pack member here, insulting a member of my family and pack, and then proceeding to assault him as minor drama physically? Afterward, she not only refused to apologize but also attempted to frame Claire, almost turning the truth on its head. Is this a minor drama in the Sterling Moon pack’s eyes?” Beta Cruz growled.

Alpha Henry waved his hands frantically.

“Beta Cruz, I didn’t mean it! Although Breanne has been raised in the Sterling Moon pack for many years, she is not my biological pup. There are many ways I simply can’t guide her. If there’s blame, it falls on my mate, Stephanie. When my Beta passed away, it was hard on his mournful mate, Stephanie, who felt pity and then took Breanne in. We didn’t realize she would turn out to be such a disaster. Breanne will now apologize to Beta’s family to make amends for all of this!”

Alpha Henry was still trying to separate himself from the root of the problem.

I knew what he was doing.

He had hoped that this birthday party would help mend relations not only with the Cruz family but also forge a closer alliance with Lucien and the Crown of Thornes pack.

However, that has all been burned to the ground, never to be considered again because of Breanne.

My eyes drifted over to the devil’s mistress, herself, and there Breanne stood-frozen.

Alpha Henry’s desperate attempt to distance himself from her must have stung. I was amazed at how fast they began to turn on one another after their favourite person to bully left.

There was no loyalty in this Alpha family, and their cracks were starting to show.

“There’s no way I’m apologizing for something that needed to be said!” Breanne dug her nails into her palms, as she defiantly lifted her chin.

Eyes around the room widened in disbelief.

“She’s just an adopted daughter of the Sterling Moon pack’s Alpha family, yet she acts like she’s the next heir. I’ve heard she has been quite arrogant. Today is a real eye-opener. Perhaps we have been wrong about Claire this whole time.”

“Exactly! Given her status in their pack, being able to associate with the youngest son of the Crown of Thornes Beta family is already a stretch. How dare she insult him? It’s outrageous!”

“Not to mention the scandal with a mated man, have you seen the uncensored videos? I was shocked when I heard about it, but seeing it was disgusting behaviour! A normal young she-wolf her age should avoid scandals like that, especially since they involved mated Alpha males.”

“Right! The youngest son of the Cruz family was gracious enough to greet her, yet she was rude. Without the Sterling Moon pack, she is the nobody!”

The guests gossiped furiously, tearing apart any confidence that Breanne might have had when she defiantly refused to apologize.

Breanne instinctively looked to Luna Stephanie for help, but the Luna was avoiding her gaze, staring at the ceiling, the floor, and outside, anywhere but at her.

It took everything in me not to laugh.

It was too funny to watch from the sidelines.

Fuming, Breanna stomped her foot and glanced over my way, looking for Liam to step in. She opened her mouth, clearly about to call out to him.

Yet, Liam’s eyes were glued to me, not leaving my face for a second.

In front of everyone, Liam said to me,

“I’m sorry that Breanne was yet again thoughtless and has dragged you into another one of her messes. I apologize for what you endured here, Claire.”

I lifted my eyes briefly, but not to look at Liam; no, I was looking straight forward at Lucien, who, in turn, was staring at me.

With our eyes locked, I took a deep breath and headed straight toward where Lucien stood.

“Lucien, thank you for stepping in to help me.”
