99 Times for Alpha’s Bestie novel Chapter 33

I walked through the door with a pinhole camera, no larger than a dime.

As soon as I entered, I spotted an old bed in the living room, while a few workers struggled to bring in a new leather bed from Moonves into the guest room.

Liam was sweating as he directed them, while Breanne lounged on the sofa, eating imported cherries, acting like the lady of the house.

When she saw me, Breanne shot me a cold glance, not bothering to greet me as she turned back to the TV.

Liam approached, wiping the sweat from his brow, and pointed toward the guest room,

“Breanne said it’s inconvenient to live with my parents at the packhouse. They’re always meddling, trying to set her up on dates with elite warriors and neighbouring ranked males. Since our house is empty anyway, I let her move in. You know how picky she is. She insists on getting a new bed.”

“Since it’s your house, why would I assume I have any kind of say in the matter? You can do what you want.” my tune remained neutral.

Liam seemed momentarily taken aback. He pulled me aside and whispered,

“Things have been tense between you two lately. I thought that with you both living together, it would help ease the tension. Plus, Breanne can help with some chores, so you won’t be so worn out.”

I raised an eyebrow, a cold smile forming, “Help me with chores, the pampered princess in there? I think you mean she’s here to help you into bed?”

“Claire, mind your mouth! You need to behave.” Liam’s grip tightened on my arm, and he growled.

“Yes, Master Liam.” I yanked my arm away, rubbing the instant bruise it left. “Since your new bed is set up. I’ll go pick out new bedding for it. I’ll make sure to take good care of the picky pair.”

I couldn’t be bothered to be around him any further, so I left to collect the fresh bedding from the closet.

When I stepped into the room, I recognized the model of the bed instantly. It was the popular leather model from Moonves, designed by me myself.

What are the odds?

If Breanne knew this bed was my design, it would surely make her even more uncomfortable. Tempting to tell her, but I don’t want future interference when I leave.

I remembered when I first drafted the design a year ago.

It was shortly after Breanne had been sent abroad by Liam for her studies. The bed I designed while trying to save my mate bond is now the bed design that will ultimately become the final straw in ending it.

Suppressing my disgust, I lay out the bedding and discreetly tucked the tiny invisible camera into a seam at the headboard.

Once I connected the camera to my phone, confirming the clarity of the image and linking it to auto save to my cloud account, I was about to leave the room when Breanne suddenly walked in and locked the door behind me.

“You’re being nice and making the bed for me? Finally coming around, huh?” With her arms crossed, Breanne looked at me with an air of smugness.

“When guests arrive, it’s only polite to offer hospitality.” I replied coldly.

“Seems like you still can’t tell who the host and the guest are. When are you going to learn that your place here is nothing more than a servant? I am the one that Liam has always wanted.” Breanne lowered her voice deliberately.

“I bet you’re feeling pretty neglected and hurt right now, aren’t you? You were almost assaulted by eight rogues, and Liam didn’t even flinch. When I posted just a few private photos online, Liam got really angry. He rejected and abandoned you for days, spending all his time calming me down. Funny, isn’t it?”

Her laugh reminded me of a hyena; it grated on me.

I stood there in silence, not feeding in.

That was the point, though. I wanted her to keep digging the hole for them all.

“I said I wanted to move in here, and he agreed without a second thought. He even rushed out to buy a bed for me. Meanwhile, you, his poor, pathetic, wolfless mate, are still recovering from her near–reputation–ruining attack, and he never called once, did he?”

The pinhole camera was perfectly positioned to capture Breanne’s face, revealing her malicious.

“Breanne, I don’t understand why you feel the need to push me so hard. You caused my miscarriage, and then you gave me the miscarriage cursed doll for my birthday. But it still wasn’t enough. So, you tricked me into thinking I was going to meet Liam, only to have me trapped in a room to be assaulted by rogues? Breanne, I haven’t fought you for anything, nor have I stolen anything from you. Why can’t you just let me be?” I said, feigning vulnerability.

Breanne’s smug expression faltered.

“From the day you started dating Liam, I hated you! Your presence stole his affection away from me! He will always be mine. I won’t share him with anyone else.”

There was something in Breanne’s tone that made me a little nervous. She was so incredibly possessive over Liam, I was realizing just how deep–seated it was.

“I’ll do anything to keep you away from him. Do you know how much I did to make you abort?”

“While I was banished to study abroad, I met a witch, and she told me you were pregnant with Liam’s pup. The true heir of the Sterling Moon Pack. I couldn’t let you be the one to bring around the first heir. So, I paid her to curse you! You will never be physically able to carry another one of Liam’s pups. Not ever.”

“I just had to create a reason to come back in order to make sure it all happened. You will be rejected for being barren, or the council will approve Liam to take an official mistress by his side. Either way, your time is up. You should just leave while you still can because I am going to break you into pieces if you stay!”

My palms clenched painfully as I fought to suppress the dull ache inside me.

“Breanne, you’re twisted and cruel. What would Stephanie and Henry think if they knew you killed their family’s bloodline?”

“What does it matter? No one will ever have Liam’s pup but me! Claire, you’ve worked so hard to win Stephanie and Henry’s favour, yet they wouldn’t even look at you.” Breanne flipped her hair, and her smile grew dark as she looked at me.

“Do you know how Henry described you? He said someone like you, the daughter of a broken family, wouldn’t even be good enough to be a servant for the Sterling family. Once they discover your barrenness, they’ll banish you or kill you. Who cares about Claire ‘the nobody“?”

I gritted my teeth, my face pale with rage and hatred boiling inside me.

I wanted to punch Breanne hard in the face, but I held back. I had other plans.

“I won’t need the Sterling family to kick me out. You, Liam and the entire Sterling Moon pack have made my position here clear. But Breanne, be sure to let everyone know that they will all now suffer tenfold. I will not rest until you all fall to your knees. I will do it for the life of my unborn pup, for all the accidents you framed me for, for all the horrible words you and the Alpha family have spoken to me.”
