99 Times for Alpha’s Bestie novel Chapter 42

“What did you do to Claire? You cursed her to miscarry my heir? How could you be so cruel?

I’Il kill you!” Liam roared, veins bulging on his forehead.

With his grip tightening around Breanne’s neck while he pinned her struggling body to the ground.

Would he attack Breanne and be sentenced by the Council for the act of feral aggression? Part of me hoped and wanted this to happen just to see the repercussions.

“Liam, stop!” Breanne gasped for breath, terrified as he gripped her tightly.

But that once-effective plea felt like a bitter joke to Liam at that moment. At least that was what I gathered from his cold and non-humorous chuckle as I watched him apply more pressure to his grip around her airways.

Not that I could blame him, he not only learned that he had been played the fool for years by someone he trusted more than his own mate, but his heir was, in fact, real, and when he accused me of lying, his bestie was the one who killed our pup.

That was a tough pill to swallow and a lot of embarrassment mixed in.

The world now knew the fool Liam was, and they would most likely consider this when Liam eventually took over to lead the pack.

I predict a lot of pack support and alliances to waiver now.

Just as I watched the colour begin to change more drastically on Breanne’s face, telling me Liam was close to killing her, the shifter police arrived

There was a specific task force for Shifter crimes, and they were the ones pushing through the doors now.

I had called them, providing ample evidence that Breanne had kidn*pped me and arranged for eight rogues to assault me. Along with the medical report from that night, confirming the drugs I was injected with. The proof was solid enough for an arrest.

The shifter officers pulled the frantic Liam away and slapped silver handcuffs on Breanne’s wrists, then dragged her from the scene.

As predicted, Breanne screamed and cried, throwing a tantrum and rolling on the floor.

“Claire, I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! Please, give me another chance. I beg you to drop the charges against me! I don’t want to go to jail! I don’t want to go to jail!”

Her wails echoed throughout the venue, but I simply shot her a cold look before turning away.

Karma was finally catching up to her, and she deserved every bit of it.

There was no way I would drop the charges. If everything could be forgiven, then prisons would serve no purpose. My pup deserved vengeance, and that was what they would have!

Breanne pleaded to those still in the room to help her, but her image was destroyed.

The males who once showed her interest looked at her with disgust and disappointment.

Even the so-called friends who had defended her moments ago now looked at her with disdain, avoiding her as if she were toxic.

Breanne was taken away by the police for obstructing justice.

As the chaos settled, looked around the room.

It lay in absolute c***e, and I loved every minute of it. Some of the guests went to the hospital, while others were taken into custody.

Liam and Breanne were officially the joke of the province.

I must say, this was an incredibly productive evening.

As the remaining guests began to file out, still openly conversing with one another about the latest gossip and their own speculations, Liam stood frozen.

He looked like a statue; perhaps he was unsure how to process the idea of moving.

Too stunned from what just happened on an evening they all thought would clear up their reputations and continue to drag mine through the mud.

Finally, he mustered the courage to lift his gaze and lock eyes with me, while standing a short distance away.

We stood like that for a long time, in complete silence.

Liam remained motionless, his face pale.

Liam stumbled, nearly choking on my accusations.

For the first time in our relationship, I could see genuine regret on Liam’s face.

I knew he didn’t want this rejection to take place, but it was no longer his decision.

“No!” Liam reached for my hand. “Claire, honey, I know I was wrong. Please give me another chance. I promise I’ll…”

I lightly brushed my arm as if he were dirt, quickly turning away.

“Liam, stop dreaming! You’ll never win Claire back! You jerk, leave her alone! Just be with Breanne! After tonight, you two are done in Edmonton. No one will even respect you again!”

Liyah shouted through a voice changer, unable to hold back. I shook my head with a smirk, I had a feeling she would be listening in.

I looked up at the camera in the corner and gave a slight nod, letting Liyah know it was time to pack up and leave.

As I walked through the lobby of the venue location, I watched a SWAT team of Shifter police storm into the back area, where the control room was located.

However, I also knew that Liyah and her hacker buddies had already left. The evidence was clear, and the police would find nothing linking Claire, Liyah, or anyone else to that room or what had happened tonight.

Let them speculate all they wanted; there was no proof.

As I sank into the plush leather seat of Liyah’s sports car, I leaned back, glancing lazily at the sky.

Fireworks exploded overhead, lighting up the hotel’s surroundings in a brilliant display.

It was as if the fireworks had been prepared in advance, celebrating a vengeful queen returning to claim her freedom.

Just one more day, before the official rejection ritual.
