I was a bit tipsy and needed a place to rest.
The Elite was enormous, and it was my first time here, so I was utterly lost.
I continued to try doors, finding storage space and random offices, as well as locked doors. I was nervous about trying these random doors. I didn’t want to risk going through the wrong door, and it led me into the human side of the club.
To be honest, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get back in. I didn’t have a wolf to flash at the doorman to reenter.
After wandering for a while, I finally spotted an employee and hurriedly asked, “Is there somewhere quiet I can rest for a bit? I just need a quiet break from all of that back there.”
The employee offered a small smile and a nod before pointing ahead.
“That room is for guests to relax. I’m pretty sure it’s empty right now, as well.”
Thanking the employee, I headed in that direction. I was exhausted from the flights, the races, and the event, the Alpha drama I kept attracting, and now the alcohol was making my head spin.
When I reached the room, I didn’t hesitate to push the door open and step inside. I closed it quickly and locked the door handle as I did.
The last thing I needed was some male coming in and thinking of me as their next vulnerable prey. Perhaps I should have let Liyah know where I went off to before I disappeared on her again, but my head was killing me.
The lights were off, and the room was pitch black, carpeted so that my footsteps made no sound. I didn’t bother turning the lights on; the employee told me it was empty. I just wanted to rest for a few minutes, anyway.
I felt exhausted, and my head was throbbing from my interaction with Liam and his shoulder..
As I fumbled around in the dark, my hand brushed against a soft bed. A smile graced my face, and relief filled my body.
Without a second thought, I climbed in.
It was so comfortable. I needed to know what mattress brand this was from. This wasn’t the top brand I just purchased from Moonves the other day; it was so much better.
As I sank into the plush mattress, I felt like I was in the Meadow. I wouldn’t be surprised if I heard the toilet flush and the Goddess walk out, drying her hands.
This was divine, especially after all the stress.
My head nestled into the luxurious pillow, and I drifted off into a deep sleep.
I slowly started to come to when I heard the slight sound of rustling. It seemed something was moving beside me.
I had no idea how much time had passed while I slept, and I had no idea if I was even awake or if this was some glorious dream still.
Then, my hand touched a warm, soft body. Instinctively, I pressed down, feeling something square and firm beneath my fingers.
In my alcohol infused brain, I for some odd reason wondered if this was steak? I don’t know what it is about alcohol, but it made a girl starved!
In my sleepy haze, the thought of the steak made my stomach grumble. Without thinking, I leaned forward and licked it.
Mmm, a bit salty and wet. This was the best dream I’ve ever had. It tasted so real, it felt real.
I wanted more.
Thud!
Suddenly, the lights flicked on, and a forceful shove sent me tumbling off the bed.
I hit the floor hard, my head colliding with the bedside table. Instinctively, I covered my forehead. Any remnants of the alcohol effect were gone, sobering me instantly.
What the heck just happened?
Rubbing my sleepy eyes, I glanced back at where I had just been lying, and my heart began to race in sheer panic and embarrassment.
In the now–lit room stood Lucien, wearing a deep blue silk robe, his chest exposed, revealing his chiselled collarbone and abs. His long, muscular legs sprawled out in front of me.
The shock hit me like a freight train!
I stared at him, realizing that the steak I had just been licking like a woman starved was actually his abs! I could still see hints of my saliva that was still damp on the contours of his perfectly sculpted form.
Panic surged through me.
This couldn’t be happening! How could this happen? Why was Lucien in my room?
I was at a loss for words, and no explanation came to mind.
“Uhh, Lucien. What are you doing in my room?” Taking a deep breath, I crawled to the window, forcing a smile.
Lucien frowned, irritation etched on his face as he rubbed his temples. “Are you sure this is your room, Claire?”
I furrowed at his challenging words, and I looked around, bewildered.
FML! Nope, this definitely wasn’t my room.
In fact, I had no idea whose room it was.
And then it hit me. I was still in The Elite nightclub and had only wanted a quiet place to rest when I pushed open the door.
Taking in the lavish decor, it was clear that this room was on par with any 5–star hotel.
No wonder no one knew where Lucien was staying. He wasn’t registered as staying at the Sandman Hotel like the rest of us. He also had his own drivers and never used the shuttle service like everyone else here for the event. He was a part–owner of The Elite nightclub, and this was his own private room for when he was in town and didn’t want to be found.
A private room that I had unwittingly stumbled into.
Realization washed over me, and I scrambled to my feet, my face burning with embarrassment. “Um, Lucien, I asked where I could have a rest. They said this room was available, so I just…”
Lucien’s gaze bore into me, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips.
Before I could finish, he suddenly lunged forward, wrapping a strong arm around my neck and pulling me onto the bed.
He leaned over me, pressing his lips to my jawline.
My eyes widened in shock.
His warm skin, the intoxicating scent of his cologne–it overwhelmed my senses.
I froze, eyes wide open.
The lights went out again in the darkness, Lucien’s deep, sultry voice rumbled, “You really went all out to get close to me, Claire You’re quite the cunning strategist .
Wait, did he just claim I’m a strategist? Sure, I tried to use our past to get close, but I wouldn’t throw my morals away and use my body to do so.
I needed to explain that I had just accidentally walked in here!
“Lucien, please hear me out! I need to explain-”
“Explain? What is there to explain? You crawled into my room and started licking my bare chest while in bed with me. It is clear what your intentions were, Claire. Especially in that dress.”
His voice was as cold as ice. He cupped my face, and though I couldn’t see his expression, his next move made me shiver.
His hands, smooth and serpentine, began to roam over my body, inching dangerously close to my most sensitive areas.
