A Divorce He Regrets (Alissa Nexus) novel Chapter 351

“That’s my boy,” she said proudly, and just before she hung up, she added, “do it right and I’m going to have the watch sent to you this week. But only after everything is complete and you impress me.”

The line went dead and I was left to stare at the blank screen as my pulse thrummed in my ears.

I pulled out my earplugs and then dumped my phone in the car, not interested in listening to any more boring conversations, before making my way to the field.

When I got there, I was sharper and meaner. The guys noticed my anger from the way I crashed into tackles, the way I didn’t bother softening the blows. My head wasn’t in the game, it was on Friday night, in the way Alex’s car was going to be nothing more than dead weight on the side of the road.

I had to get my hand in my father’s watch. By all means possible.

After practice, I caught sight of Liam across the field and he had his arms crossed as his eyes locked on me. Asher was with me and they were but looking at me like they knew something. A few other team members were staring at me too but I walked right past them. I don't give a shit what they think or how they feel.

I even spotted achieving best the fates and fit a second, my Brian almost told my feet to stop, but then I remembered what I was there. My father. His watch.

She stepped toward me. “Kye—“

I flared instantly. “What do you want?” I snapped at her. “I had a deal with your brother and you know it. Obviously, your dad doesn’t like me, so I’m back off. Congratulations because we don’t have to do anything with each other again. I’ll even get rid of the videos.”

I’ll rather die than do that. But she didn’t need to know.

I walked past her, not sparing her another glance and made my way to my car. I got in, turned on the engine and drove out of the school.

By the time I got home, the date and time were already burned into my head. So, I started sketching the plans in detail, from the street route he usually took, to where his security was weak and the best way to hit him without drawing attention.

I need to work meticulously in a way that I won’t get caught, that was the only thought in my head when I skipped school the next day.

It was the day before the event and I used it to trail Alexander from a distance, keeping just far enough back that he wouldn’t notice that car that was tailing him.

When he stopped for coffee, I slipped out of my car, crossed the street and made my way to his sleek electric car. Getting into it was almost too easy… the car was expensive but far from secure.
