A Life Beyond Limits (Jack Holland) novel Chapter 876

Who could have imagined that what was meant to be a simple contract signing would end like this?

Today's events would undoubtedly become headline news in the financial world.

"Very well."

Jack's face remained impassive, but a surge of uncontrollable fury burned inside him. His voice was icy as he said, "I hope you won't regret this in the future."

"I never regret my decisions. And get this straight, Genesis Games isn't some untouchable giant. The tech world is littered with companies that were on top one minute and bankrupt the next. You'd better make sure Genesis doesn't default on its debts first."

She didn't even spare Jack a glance before turning to the surrounding reporters.

"My apologies, dear members of the press. Today's collaboration wasn't quite what you were hoping for. But don't worry. Our group has prepared a few small gifts to express our sincere apologies."

The gifts had originally been intended as a thank-you to the journalists for covering the successful partnership. But now that the deal had fallen through, they might as well be handed out as consolation.

The reporters were thrilled. They were merely witnesses to the negotiations—whether the deal succeeded or failed made no difference to them. A failed partnership was far more sensational and newsworthy than a successful one.

Once the news broke, it would certainly create a sensation.

Speculations ran wild. What could have derailed a deal that had seemed all but certain?

No one would assume this was personal grudges that had derailed business matters.

The only logical conclusion was that something serious was wrong with Genesis Games. Whatever it was, it had forced Zenith Capital to back out at the last minute. Beyond this, there seemed to be no other explanation.

And that was exactly what Jack feared most.

"Alright. If that's what you think is best, then you have my full support!" Todd said, somewhat relieved by her response.

After parting ways with him, she returned to her office alone.

Once inside, she brewed a cup of coffee and sank into the recliner. She gazed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the streets below. Yet her thoughts were anything but calm.

Now that the heat of the moment had passed, she saw the day for what it was—a complete disaster.

Todd had a point—partnering with Genesis Games would've been all upside, with nothing to lose. She had acted rashly.

After all, nearly every analyst agreed—so long as nothing went wrong, Genesis Games was set for a major leap in market value. And it was all riding on "World Empire".
