“Well, you totally deserve it. I’m a fan too!” Portia looped her arm through Calliope’s, grinning. “You’re awesome, you’re cool, you’re a total badass—you’re basically a rock star at this point!”
The three of them had just caught a movie at the theater.
Afterwards, they tried to keep a low profile, and thankfully didn’t get mobbed by any fans.
“Come on, let’s go shopping!” Portia declared. “I need some new clothes!”
“Sounds great!” The three strolled along, popping in and out of boutiques.
When they stepped into one of the stores, Portia and Mavis dashed off to try on outfits. Calliope, not really finding anything she liked, waited outside.
She glanced toward the street and suddenly noticed a man acting suspiciously. He wore a surgical mask—odd these days—and seemed to be tailing a little girl.
Calliope frowned, instinctively following.
Just as she tensed, thinking the man was about to do something, he suddenly veered off and headed for the elevators.
The little girl, oblivious, ran forward and into a woman’s arms. The woman scooped her up, kissed her cheek, and the two walked away together.
Calliope hesitated, wondering if she’d misread the situation.
“Watch out!”
The warning came from behind, urgent and sharp.
Calliope spun around just in time to see Ulysses lunging toward her, shielding her with his body.
In a blur, a knife flashed and buried itself in Ulysses’ side.
“Callie, look out!” he gasped, clutching his waist and glaring at the assailant.
Shoppers screamed and scattered.

But question is, why the hell Silas can't just open his mouth and tell Caliope that she's the one whom he has in his heart. He would prevent a lot of misunderstanding. Seems like despite capability of talking with modified arctic wolf, she's not like telepathic....

That's weird, in the first chapters there was said that her bio parents and bros doteď on Caliope but then they adopted Lisette, but this chapter suddenly says otherwise. Did author forget what he wrote?...
