The rage in his voice was palpable, as if he was ready to strike at any moment, to bring Kael crashing down.

But to Starla, his anger was just a joke. In response to his threat, she uttered three simple words. "Be my guest."

Then she hung up.

Fairfax, still walking on the street, heard the dial tone buzz in his ear, and his mind exploded. She wasn't afraid of his threats. Fine. Just fine.
