Abandoned Luna Now Untouchable (Cecilia) novel Chapter 151

**Chapter 151: Unwelcome Gifts**

Alpha Xavier’s jaw was clenched so tightly that it seemed capable of fracturing even the sturdiest granite countertop. The atmosphere around him was thick with tension, as if he were a living embodiment of a storm ready to unleash its fury. Just an hour prior, he had received a rather unwelcome surprise: a vividly colored photo spread depicting his mother snuggled up with the young man she had been clandestinely dating.

All his efforts to enlist Alpha Sebastian’s help in removing Cici from their lives had only led to an even more chaotic presence entering the picture. It felt as if the universe had a twisted sense of humor, serving him a slice of karma that was both swift and painfully ironic. Cici had craved the kind of freedom that the White family could never offer, and in her desperation, she had sold her secrets to Maggie Locke.

One poor decision had spiraled into this overwhelming mess—like a relentless tick that burrowed in and refused to be shaken off.

Seating himself across from Maggie, Alpha Xavier’s expression was as cold and unwelcoming as the harsh winter winds sweeping through the Rockies. “What do you want, Mrs. Locke? Are you hoping for a rescue?” His voice dropped to a dangerously low tone, laced with a hint of menace. “I’m sorry, but that’s beyond my abilities. I cannot assist you.”

Maggie, with an air of calculated gentleness, began to stroke her daughter’s hair. “Xenia, sweetie, don’t you think this man is quite handsome?” she asked, gesturing towards Alpha Xavier.

Xenia, her eyes wide and vacant, stared at Alpha Xavier, her confusion evident.

Annoyance flickered across Alpha Xavier’s brow.

Yet, as he observed the girl more closely, something shifted within him. For a fleeting moment, recognition sparked in his eyes—the girl’s bewildered expression bore an uncanny resemblance to Cecilia’s sleepy, vulnerable face on those quiet mornings.

“Don’t you think he’s very handsome too?” Maggie prompted again, her patience wearing thin as Xenia remained silent.

Xenia nodded obediently, but then, almost shyly, she lowered her gaze and whispered, “But that other guy looks better.”

Maggie’s smile tightened, her disappointment palpable.

The temperature in Xavier’s gaze plummeted several degrees. What was this woman trying to achieve?

Outside the restaurant, Alpha Yardley extended an invitation to Zane Locke, suggesting they continue their discussion in his office.

As soon as the offer was made, Cassian couldn’t help but flash his trademark troublemaking grin. “I’d love to swing by Sebastian’s office too,” he drawled, a mischievous glint in his eye. “Maybe I’ll sneak in a little nap while I’m at it.” He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.

Alpha Yardley froze in place, his expression a mix of disbelief and fury. If looks could kill, Cassian would have been nothing but a smear on the pavement. Sensing the impending doom, Cassian backpedaled faster than a politician caught in a scandal.

“Kidding! Kidding! I’m not going. I’m outta here!”

Leaning towards Sebastian, he stage-whispered, “But you’ve got to admit that was the most genius distraction ever. That’s all I’ve got, though. You’re on your own now, bro.”

With a flourish, he spun around, blowing Sebastian a dramatic air-kiss as if bidding farewell from a Broadway stage.

“Sebastian, bye! I left you a little surprise in your office! When I’m back from Australia, I’ll take you on vacation!”

“CASSIAN LOCKE, YOU LITTLE brat!” Alpha Yardley bellowed, his voice echoing with anger.

“Goodbye, Father,” Alpha Sebastian replied coolly, nodding at Zane Locke. “Mr. Locke.”

He then gestured for Cecilia to follow him.

Cecilia offered a respectful farewell to the two older men before hurrying after Alpha Sebastian.

Zane Locke’s gaze lingered on her retreating figure, something unreadable flickering in his eyes.

“She’s young enough to be your daughter,” Alpha Yardley muttered as he changed his shoes. “Having inappropriate thoughts would be truly despicable.”

His suspicion was evident—first, Zane had mentioned his late wife, and now he was staring after Cecilia. It all seemed too coincidental.

“I would never…” Zane laughed, though a hint of sadness tinged his words. “I simply find the child endearing. She genuinely resembles Rebecca.”

“Cut the nonsense about Rebecca,” Alpha Yardley snapped, his voice sharp. “She’s been gone for years. She can’t see or hear your sentimental performance anymore.”

As Cecilia made her way back, curiosity bubbled within her about the Locke family.

The tension from dinner still hung in the air, stubborn as an unwanted perfume.

Stealing a glance in the rearview mirror, she observed Alpha Sebastian, his eyes closed, his strong profile relaxed as if he were deep in meditation.

But Cecilia feared he might take the opportunity to bring up other matters…

Stop it, Cecilia. Just stop.

The Silver Peak Tower came into view, its glass facade sparkling in the afternoon sun.

She remained tense throughout the journey from the car to the elevator and finally to his office door.

When she finally escaped to her own office, she collapsed into her chair like a deflating balloon.

Just as she began to relax, her phone vibrated on the desk, and a smile crept onto her lips as she saw the caller ID.

“Miss Gossip Queen herself,” she answered lazily. “Calling for the latest drama, I presume?”

“The entire Denver supernatural community is in an uproar over Cici getting arrested in Boulder!” Yvonne’s voice was practically vibrating with excitement. “Spill everything, girl. I want first dibs on this juicy story before it hits the pack grapevine!”
