After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 408

Ethan just stood there, completely lost. Before they came here, he’d been begging Isabella for forgiveness, asking her for a second chance. He even told her he’d try to move on from his feelings for Natalie. But here he was, not even half an hour later, proving himself wrong. He forgot Isabella was with him. All that care and tenderness he showed Natalie just came so naturally. He’d loved her for over a decade, after all. Looking after her was something he did without even thinking.

And Isabella saw everything.

Ethan froze in place, his mind blank. Natalie noticed and followed his gaze, spotting Isabella standing nearby. A subtle, cold smile flickered across Isabella’s face. After Sophia’s call last night, Natalie had gone out and eaten way too much barbecue. She used to get laryngitis, and greasy food was the worst for her throat. If it got bad enough, it could even turn into a fever. She wasn’t just physically drained. She’d barely slept, too busy scheming up ways to break Ethan and Isabella apart. Sophia had told her that Ethan spent the whole night waiting outside Isabella’s door. Natalie figured he’d stick to Isabella’s side today, which was why she called him. It took some effort to get him here, but she hadn’t expected Isabella to show up as well. Still, if Isabella saw how much Ethan cared for Natalie, she wouldn’t be able to stand it. There was no way their marriage could survive that.

Sophia had also let slip that Isabella was already thinking about divorce. Remembering the real reason Ethan married Isabella, Natalie scoffed to herself. She and Ethan had years of history together. No one, not even ten Isabellas, could take him away from her. All she had to do was pretend to be a little sick, and Ethan came running.

“Isabella, when did you get here?” Natalie called out, standing up with a welcoming smile. “Don’t just stand there. Come and sit with us.”
