The wedding of the City’s heir—no, the Prince—was naturally a city-wide event. There were discounts and events all throughout as a rare show of wealth and power of the lord.
Hassen City was an old City. It was one of the first to turn to a city some hundreds of years ago, though it had been stagnant for a long time.
There were no levels at the City tier, but because a new city would only rise once every hundred years or so, there could be a wide discrepancy between cities despite both being in the same tier.
Hassen City could be said to still be stable and powerful, but nothing major had been happening to it in the past decades. To some, this was a good thing; to some, this meant that it had reached its peak and could only go down.
Of course, a city was still the most steadfast place to settle in. People were generally afraid of changes anyway. If a city were changing too much, it’d cause even more concern.
In a way, Hassen’s very low-key approach over the past few decades was a source of reassurance to the citizens as well, especially now that they were making an alliance with another City! It was a poorer City, yes, but it wasn’t a bad option, especially since it had a rare resource.
The Hassen Lord, Evos, had four children with three women. Two of the children were from his first wife, his eldest—the Bleuelle Lord’s newest wife, Margaery—and the youngest son, Marcus, who was 17 years old.
Then there was the second offspring, Piddes, and another son, Pairo from a young whore. The former was now considered the Prince of the City, while the latter was known to be the philandering bastard, despite the title actually applicable to both of them.
Regardless, it was a point of pride for Hassen and Evos that he had so many children, especially for someone of his level. The only one superior in this sense was Zaol, who had the fortune of marrying someone with such a fertile physique.
That said, Lord Evos thought it was unfortunate that Zaol was so protective of his daughter, otherwise he’d have taken her for himself.
At the time, he was led to believe the Golds meant a lot to Bleuelle, so he did not force anything, but now he heard the Golds had fallen and disappeared, he could only regret losing such good stock. Had he known this was the case, he’d have cut a deal with Bleumrick to sell Olga to him.
In any case, Evos married early in order to avoid the difficulty of procreation in the future. This result was combined with fertility pills that were effective even after a certain level, which meant it was extremely costly.
Speaking of that, it was one of the reasons for this alliance.
Other than the Hassen products, Bleumrick also wanted a consistent supply of these special pills.
Speaking of Bleumrick, he was watching the ceremony with a blank expression on his face. He did not have any emotional reaction at all to his daughter getting married. In his mind, he was thinking of what he would gain in this rather than what he’d lose, which in his opinion wasn’t much.
