"They really worked." One of the voices, a male, couldn’t help but say. "I was worried because they couldn’t prepare too much."
"I always thought people past level 40 are practically immune to poison."
"Well, they haven’t met Lady—"
"Hush!"
"Oh."
Now, they were not planning on letting these people live. But they didn’t dare underestimate the strength and tricks of powerhouses, especially Lords who had a lot of resources and possibly magic tools they hadn’t encountered yet.
What if they managed to escape somehow? They were taking so much effort to be low-key, how shameful it’d be to destroy the plan because they got a bit careless!
"They usually are immune," one said. "It’s why it takes so long to create a single batch of this."
"In any case, we need to take advantage of the null rules and their weaknesses during the war."
They naturally could not have a lot of strong poison that could affect Level 40s. They reserved it to block the warehouse as well as to handle this particular room and the guards.
The other places couldn’t be touched and were just left as they were. This meant that, if they didn’t handle this quickly enough, the remaining guards of the palace could be informed and cause them a bit of trouble.
They wouldn’t lose exactly, considering the circumstances, but they wanted it as clean as possible, hopefully without injuries.
Speaking of that, the forces that had snuck into the palace were not few nor were they weak.
The Alterran military had always wanted to send special forces people to wars, but since they didn’t win wars and Alterra technically didn’t start wars, they didn’t have many chances.
Until now.
The "Secret missions" as a special ops team could finally be done!
The soldiers were quite excited about this, actually. It had been a while since they did something like this. They even wore masks and stuff, even if they had already taken the antidote for the poisons.
Anyway, the special forces quickly breezed through into the palace after the war, using the openings they found to enter the palace. It wasn’t even hard because not only were the rules null and void during war, but most of the Voumi forces were in Flaret.
They only had to wait in place, knowing the Lord wouldn’t be able to go inside the warehouse since warehouse teleportation (according to the Elders) was blocked as soon as war declarations were made, and they knew he’d be back to the palace, where there were still quite a few guards.
The leader of this special ops force was Eagle, and he made sure to use his wind ability to contain the poison in place, making sure it wouldn’t be wasted by leaking out, and continuously affect their intended victims.
That was to say, just the Lord and his guards.
If they had enough of this paralyzing potion, they’d have definitely applied it to the whole palace, but alas, they could only get one for a room.
What if it was in his underwear? Cringe.
