Alpha Damon (Sienna) novel Chapter 340

Damon:

The smell of gunpowder still hung in the air.

The smell of blood was one that no one could deny.

The field was quiet now, quiet in a way that made my chest ache. The creatures were gone. The mist had thinned. But the earth just seemed to still, as we saw everything that went around, as we witnessed what just happened, everything seemed to die down.

And so was he.

Giovanni.

The man who was quiet as he looked up, his eyes wide and surprised.

I stood just behind Sienna, my claws flexed, my body humming with the kind of rage that begged to be unleashed. My wolf paced inside me, snarling, clawing at my ribs, demanding blood.

But I didn’t move.

I held my ground.

Because I knew that right now it was not my right to move. At least I didn’t want to give myself the right to move.

Not when she was the one speaking.

Not when she was the one who was managing this.

Ethan, despite his pain, chose loyalty. As he stood by my side, I knew that he wanted to go to Delilah. I understood his pain, and I knew that I wouldn’t have had the strength that he was holding right now. She was going to be all right. I knew that deep down. Something in me told me that she was. But there was also that possibility of him losing her when he had just got her back. I knew that he didn’t want that to happen.

Sienna’s voice was calm, even, but sharper than any blade. The way she looked at him, at the man who’d started all of this, who’d hurt so many, who’d shot her sister, it was colder than anything I’d seen in her eyes before.

I’d seen her strong. I’d seen her scared.

But I’d never seen her like this.

Not until now.

And god help me, it made my chest burn with pride.

It made me want to show the whole world that this was my Luna. It made me regret every moment that I lived breaking her.

Giovanni was still on his knees, his breath ragged, his shoulder and leg bleeding through his ruined suit. He laughed, bitter, broken, even as the chains clamped around his wrists. He was in pain, he was bloodied, but he did not think twice. The man was not going to stop. He was going to try and keep triggering her for her to do something that she was going to regret. But I was thankful and happy that she did not. She didn’t even react. She did not give him that satisfaction.

“You think you’ve won,” he hissed at her. “Do you think by capturing me right now that you’ve gotten what you wanted? Everything around you is destroyed, everything is broken. Do you think that it’s going to be easy for you to just rebuild, start over again? This is not how life is going to be. This is not how the world goes.”

“And do you think that it would go simply when you’re dead?”

“You keeping me alive would mean that I am used as leverage or that I can just run away.” He said, mocking her. “Do you think that Delilah is going to be able to kill me? That she’s going to be thankful for what you’ve done? That she wouldn’t turn against you when power starts to seize? She is built for power, she’s not built to submit, and she’s never going to submit to you.

Sienna didn’t flinch.
