Alpha’s Regret After His Pregnant Luna Left novel Chapter 101

(Audrey’s POV)

The tension in the Moonstone Pack House was suffocating as Victoria and Katherine strutted into the sitting room like they owned the place. Victoria’s smirk made my wolf Grace growl beneath my skin. I could feel Arthur’s presence behind me, solid and unyielding.

“Well, shall we get to these important photographs you mentioned?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.

Victoria’s eyes gleamed with malicious delight. “Oh, I think you’ll find them quite… illuminating.”

She reached into her designer handbag and pulled out a manila envelope, handling it with exaggerated care as if it contained something precious. The dramatic flair was so typical of her that I had to resist rolling my eyes.

“Arthur, I hate to be the one to show you this,” Victoria said, her voice dripping with false sympathy. “But as someone who cares deeply about you and this pack…”

“Get to the point,” Arthur interrupted, his patience visibly wearing thin.

Victoria opened the envelope with deliberate slowness and withdrew several glossy photographs. She handed them to Arthur, watching his face eagerly for a reaction.

“Your mate has been unfaithful,” she announced triumphantly. “And those pups she lost? They weren’t even yours.”

The accusation hit me like a physical blow. Grace roared inside me, clawing to get out, demanding retribution for such a vile lie.

“How dare you!” I snarled, stepping forward.

Katherine quickly moved between us. “The evidence speaks for itself, dear.”

Arthur’s face remained impassive as he examined the photos, but I could see the muscle in his jaw twitching-a tell-tale sign of his contained fury.

“May I?” I extended my hand, and Arthur passed the photos to me without a word.

My heart sank as I recognized what they showed. Nathan and me, standing outside a hotel room door at what appeared to be the Silver Moon Resort near the mall. I was leaning slightly against the wall, looking tired, while Nathan stood close-too close for casual acquaintances.

“This was taken at the Silver Moon Resort,” I said, recognizing the distinctive hallway decor. “But this isn’t what it looks like.”

Victoria laughed, the sound grating on my nerves. “It never is, is it? Tell me, what innocent explanation is there for you entering a hotel room with another male wolf late at night?”

I struggled to remember the exact circumstances. I’d been at the Silver Moon Mall with Sarah that day, feeling increasingly unwell as the evening progressed. There was a vague memory of someone delivering healing herbs to my room-was that Nathan?

“I was sick that night,” I began, trying to piece together the fragmented memories. “I think Nathan might have delivered some healing herbs, but-”

“Oh, is that what they call it these days?” Victoria interrupted with a sneer. “Delivering ‘healing herbs’?”

My temper flared. “You doctored these photos. You’re trying to manipulate the situation just like you always do.”

Katherine placed a comforting hand on Victoria’s shoulder. “Arthur, surely you can see what’s happening here. The photos don’t lie. Your… mate… has betrayed you with the Snowfang heir.”

Victoria nodded solemnly. “I didn’t want to show you these, Arthur. But after everything that’s happened, you deserve to know the truth.”

I examined the photos again, noting their strategic angles-showing enough to suggest impropriety but conveniently not capturing what actually happened in the room.

“If I was having an affair with Nathan,” I said coldly, “why would we meet in a public hotel where anyone could see us? I have my territory house. He has his pack estate.”

Victoria smirked. “Perhaps you enjoy the thrill of possibly getting caught? Or maybe you were too desperate to wait.”

I turned to Arthur. “This is ridiculous. You can’t possibly believe this.”

Arthur remained silent, his expression unreadable. The lack of immediate defense stung more than I wanted to admit.

“We can get more explicit photos if these aren’t convincing enough,” Victoria offered, her eyes gleaming with malice. “Our contact said he has additional evidence.”

“Your contact?” I laughed bitterly. “You mean the person you paid to fabricate this so-called evidence?”

“These photos show you outside a hotel room,” Victoria countered. “They don’t show what happened inside. For all we know, you could have been discussing pack politics.”

Victoria’s eyes widened, tears gathering on her lashes-tears I was certain were as fake as her concern for Arthur.

“I was only trying to help you,” she whispered, lips trembling. “To protect you from being made a fool.”

“I don’t need your protection,” Arthur replied coldly.

Katherine sat straighter in her chair, her momentary “weakness” forgotten. “Arthur, I’m disappointed in you. How can you be so blind to what’s happening right in front of you?”

“The only thing I see,” Arthur responded, “is two wolves attempting to manipulate the truth to serve their own interests.”

Victoria stood, her expression morphing from hurt to bitter resentment. “I’ve only ever wanted what’s best for you, Arthur. Remember that when she betrays you again.”

Katherine rose with as much dignity as her wet face and hair would allow. “We’ll leave you to your… mate. But know that we’re here for you when you finally see the truth.”

They left the sitting room with their heads held high, but I could sense the fury simmering beneath their composed facades. Once the door closed behind them, I turned to face Arthur, prepared for the anger I was sure would come now that we were alone.

Instead, he held up a torn piece of one of the photographs-the section showing my face, tired and pale against the hotel wall.

“I’ve sorted out my feelings,” he said, his voice low and intense. “I want nothing but you.”

My breath caught in my throat. After everything-the accusations, the betrayals, our impending mate bond severance-his words caught me completely off guard.

“What do you mean?” I asked, searching his face for any sign of manipulation or deception.

His gaze held an almost obsessive intensity as he repeated, “I want nothing but you, Audrey. Only you.”

His wolf eyes gleamed golden in the dim light of the sitting room, leaving me stunned and speechless before the raw emotion I saw there.
