Alpha’s Regret: My Rejected Mate Is A Healer novel Chapter 121

Maxwell’s grip tightened around Ella’s unconscious human form as he moved effortlessly through the forest. The night air smelt of pine but he couldn’t enjoy the smell because of the werewolf stench in his nose.

He hated them, the annoying mutts were everywhere now, walking freely in their territory, their putrid odor made his stomach turn.

If it were up to him, every single one of them would be dead by now, especially her.

But he couldn’t risk it, he had to deliver her to Valen himself as his task and promise but soon enough he wouldn’t be taking orders from a mutt lover like Valen.

He’d never thought he’d see the day when a vampire as powerful as Lord Valen would willingly align himself with werewolves but here he was.

One thing was certain, betraying your own kind comes with a death wish no matter how powerful you were.

Maxwell scoffed, wasn’t it an irony that Valen had foolishly aligned with the werewolves and now a similar alignment will be what would end him?

As he was lost in thought, moving at a blinding speed, he failed to notice the pair of deep silver eyes hidden in the thick woods that had been watching him. He had no idea he was followed, the eyes stayed dangerously unseen.

Maxwell arrived at the Manor with Ella in his arms, he went straight to the office, he was barely through the door when he spotted Alpha Kael behind him, his sharp silver eyes unreadable.

“I told you, I needed no help, especially not from a bloody mutt like you and be rest assured, There’ll be a rematch between us and you won’t be so lucky.” Maxwell hissed.

“It seems you were right all along, you are a great tracker. I might have some things to learn from you…” Kael taunted as he followed closely behind.

Maxwell entered Valen’s office and dropped Ella gently on a couch, with a smirk on his face.

“I told you I could find her, here she is.”

A shocked Valen rushed to Ella’s side.

Maxwell could barely hide his disgust at the scene before him.

“She’s still breathing, although I don’t know what was done to her. But as promised, I found her without any help from the mutts.” He sneered eyeing Derek and Kael.

Alpha Derek shot him a glare but said nothing.

Valen only gave a nod, pleased to have Ella back.

“You never disappoint, Maxwell.” He said smoothly.

“I never do.” Maxwell agreed.

“But where did you find her?” Valen demanded.

Maxwell stiffened.

Kael’s eyes narrowed, waiting for him to answer.

“An abandoned underground chamber near the eastern cliffs. I followed a trail” Sebastian replied, his voice masking his

unease. 1

“A trail?” Kael chuckled. “How convenient.”

Maxwell’s eyes flicked to him. “Are you doubting me, Alpha?”

Kael took a slow step forward, standing just inches from Maxwell. He was taller, broader, his battle-worn body radiating power. “How do you know where to look?”

“Something doesn’t add up.” Kael continued. “Derek and Valen had been searching everywhere, using all their resources, yet they had found nothing.

But you, Maxwell? You left alone and returned so sure you would find her.” He folded his arms as he clicked his tongue while circling Maxwell.

“It’s almost as if… you already knew where she was.”

He scoffed. “Forgive me if I find that hard to believe.”

Maxwell’s hands clenched into tight fists, his knuckles whitening. Who the hell is this mutt? And what is he trying to do?

No, he can’t let a mutt razzle him.

“Like I said Al-pha he dragged the word in anger. “I followed a trail, If I couldn’t complete this one assignment, then why am I the best spy and tracker of Lord Valen?”

Kael took a closer look at Derek’s mate, a strange sense of familiarity enveloped him but he quickly brushed it off shaking his head.

What’s he thinking?

He shouldn’t get his hopes high.

Derek and Valen were now paying attention to Ella, who stirred weakly. They both exchanged a glance.

Her lips parted, her eyes still closed but she could sense both of them. Her voice was hoarse and low.

Her lips parted slightly, and the faintest whisper escaped.

“Sebastian…”

Derek and Valen brought their ears closer to her mouth to hear what she was whispering.

Ella swallowed, her throat dry, as she forced the last of her strength into a whisper.

“The nigtmares…Se…Sebastian..is the…the beast.”

Her body shook once before she collapsed again into unconsciousness.

Valen and Derek’s eyes widened. “Ella?”

Silence filled the room.

And then after a few moment Derek spoke up, his eyes confused and uncertain.

“What beast? What was she talking about?”

Valen’s heart clenched, his expression darkening as he clenched his fists. “A war might be inevitable.”
